Edited 3 months agoI have this pressing and I want to throw a question out. The pictures above seem to show an inner sleeve with square corners; whereas, my copy has a rounded corners inner sleeve like the original UK press. Anybody else out there with this variation?

Here we have a good sounding reissue. This is probably digital transfer, but this sounds good for me. If you can not find OG or one of 80s repress, this will be okay. 4 stars.

Edited 4 months agoMy copy is slightly warped where side A is "domed", which is known as a dished record. Could be fixed by a clamp, but it seems to play fine. Surprised such a warp happened since this is a 180g record
It sounds pretty tight and punchy, just like I it, so that's all fine here. Good sounding reissue, it's dark and dissonant like it's supposed to be. The textured sleeve is fantastic -
In my opinion, Unknown Pleasures is the greatest post-punk album of all time. I could never tire of listening to “New Dawn Fades” and “Shadowplay.” Ian Curtis’s vocals are both haunting and mesmerizing, especially on the chilling final track, “I Nothing.”

This is a good sounding reissue. Nothing exceptional but definitely nothing close to”sounding compressed to death,” or “lifeless.” I believe these comments are coming from super fans who are just frustrated that the record didn’t sound like their other amazing sounding records (which is totally fair). I am a pretty casual fan and from that perspective, this is an above average sounding modern reissue. Compressed to death are reissues like Linkin Park’s earlier catalogue (not the recent one step).
While this very affordable reissue is above average in of sound quality relative to other modern reissues, I do agree that compression has taken out some of the beautiful dynamics, haunting space between vocal and the instruments and the overall atmospheric element of the album. It is not as immersive as it should be. The best analogy I can give is Radiohead - OK Computer. Most of the modern reissues of OK Computer don’t come close to the original vinyl in of dynamic range and fullness of the sound.
However, I am okay to live with this since getting a vintage copy of this record in a good condition is quite difficult and the price to be paid for such a copy is really expensive especially for a casual fan like myself.
The bass and drums cut through quite well (due to the compression) and the stereo panning throughout the record is nicely separated. Lower frequencies were EQ’d a bit weirdly but still it doesn’t make me feel like my ears were muffled/blocked with wool like some other bass boosted reissues (a lot of Beatles Giles Martin Remixes).
The cover reproduction is amazing. The texture and the print quality is top notch. For the price, this definitely deserves a space in my growing collection.

Almost perfect!!!
Vinyl is as flat as it gets today. Bang on center. Almost silent throughout just a little hint of non fill on track one.
The sound is fantastic... this is such a smooth and clean remaster that you can crank it without fatigue! It really shows off the genious of Hannetts unique production and recording techniques.
For £20 im DELIGHTED.
Nb no card with mine but couldnt care less -
This pressing is clean and sounds good. I’ve never heard the porky cut and I’m sure it sounds great. But honestly, nothing to complain about this pressing IMO. For the price, this is more than able and enjoyable. I’ve heard way worst pressings and this at least is quality except for the mastering differences from the OG.

Great Pressing! After cleaning the album, it sounded awesome, with surface noise only appearing briefly between tracks. The minimal but nice packaging makes this essential for your collection! Overall, I would recommend this pressing to anyone looking for a pressing of this classic at a nice price.

This reissue is ok but it totally sucks all the life out of the sound. I have a first pressing with Porky Prime Cut in the run out. This remaster makes it sound like a modern band release. Compressed and lifeless.
