There's zero info anywhere on the packaging, but as far as I can tell, most of these songs first saw release as singles during the same timeframe The Gladiators were releasing albums on Virgin/Front Line in the late 1970's. This is top tier, peak Gladiators, produced by Prince Tony. There are a few very nice dubs/versions ("Nyahbingi Marching On" stands out), a couple of extended tracks ("Eli Eli" is massive), and taken as a whole, ROOTS NATTY is easily as good as anything they released on album during that era. Their version of "Jah O Jah O" (best known as "Ya Ho" by The Viceroys) is another highlight. Sound quality on the vinyl is irable, no idea what the source materials were, but the music hits hard, with plenty of oomph to the rhythm section, and a clean, clear, punchy soundstage. Not audiophile, but consistently solid. Very glad I grabbed this RSD '25 release - if you're a devoted fan of Albert Griffiths and the Gladiators, this is essential. Now if someone could please reissue TRENCHTOWN MIX UP...please?

If you're a Gladiators fan this is a great addition to the collection! It sounds great and the price of $24.99 at my local record shop was fair.
