Missed the computer notification sound until a listen today. Humorous, still enjoying the compilation so far.

For those complaining about the defect on track 2, y'all know the entire genre of dub was spawned by an engineer's mistake right? And any serious collector of Jamaican records knows the deal: you will encounter all manner of defects; off-center holes, imperfections in the vinyl, incorrect track listings, transfers from imperfect source material, and on and on.
Also, does anybody else think the windows alert kind of sounds cool? I kept obsessing over it trying to figure out if I was really hearing what I thought I was hearing and it was kind of hilarious to come here and get confirmation. It kind of sounds like a steel drum and as was mentioned in another review doesn't really even sound out of place. It's even kind of in the same key.
Anyway all this complaining about feeling ripped off strikes me as a babylon mentality. The entitlement of the consumer mindset. In summary: chill, have a spliff, and enjoy repeatedly. This thing is killer. It's been on repeat all night over here. -
Edited 2 years agoI think that's never seen before! For compensation they should be Repres this one "Rodley Brissett - Justice And Peace" on 7''... it would be a nice gift !
This compilation is a true killer... but
It's still complicated to have to buy twice the same album (only released in the US, importing it in costs about 40 euros !), I can't believe that there is no quality control ! We are still spending a lot of money for our love of this so "unique" sound but often of bad quality (new press but "VG" or "Off Center"...) knowing that this money does not end up in the pocket of the Artists ! (who had to be satisfied with a can of beans or a 1 dollar bill !)
Meanwhile, in Japan, we finally get some quality! but forbidden to sell because of the quarrels of the rights holders...
Sorry but I sometimes feel like I'm ing this system (Sir Coxsone has a reputation that still is... business is business !) -
The Apple Music stream of track 2 does not have the alert sound.
But if it did, it would be lacking in the Analog Warmth™ that you can only get from vinyl! -
The question that everybody wants to hear:
Will customers be reimbursed for this pressing?
a real record with a recorded and pressed notification is ridiculous.
The best track in my humble opinion. -
I think Studio One should give vinyl lovers a nod and explain what happened on track 2.
good thoughts here: https://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl/comments/k3ksqi/reggae_record_labels_often_have_poor_quality/ -
Repress will be coming around May / June 2021 with email notification issue sorted. Source: studio one.

For those interested, Studio One just released this on Bandcamp - computer sound removed at 1:19 on Track 2!
Like many others, I couldn't quite get my head around how this issue had managed to elude engineers working on this release (I don't agree with triceratops!). However, I agree with what has been said by reggaedefender and others, this issue probably shouldn't detract from what is a top notch release with many tracks not available anywhere else. And now we can listen to Track 2 without the PC notification!! -
Track 2, the one with the computer sound, was also taken from a lossy source (mp3). Or at least appear lossy on the CD.
Noticed that problem with some purchases from Studio One Bandcamp too. -
Edited 4 years agoOK, I'll enter the fray. I just received this, and I'll say A.) The music is great. B.) The computer-alert tone is definitely there on track 2, but C.) I can 100% understand why it wasn't caught in quality control. It sounds like a little melodic keyboard riff of a style that wouldn't be out of place in a reggae/dub record, and actually slightly later in the track there is some tinkling piano that has a similar tone. Anyway, it's a mistake, but this pressing is otherwise quite clean-sounding. If Studio One decided to replace our copies with a glitchless one I'd obviously take it, but assuming that's not gonna happen, I can enjoy this without feeling gouged, particularly since some of this stuff isn't available elsewhere anyway.
