No the best pressing. Some noise and distortion. Maybe you can clean it but new records you should not be cleanded, they should be perfect.

Listening on my Technics SL1500c, Ortofon blue cart/stylus, with Project Tube Box S2 pre amp and Cambridge CX81 amp: sounds warm, quiet in the subtle moments, and powerful when it needs to be - awesome stuff. Another gorgeous album by Lana - she gets better and better.

I’ve owned 3 copies of this album (red, white, and green) and every one sounds dreadful. Loads of crackles, static, and pops. LANA also sounds like she’s underwater in half the tracks. She needs to find a new pressing plant cus this is dreadful

I have all 6 editions of this album on vinyl (white, two Black editions, pink-purple, green and red). Compared by sound. For me, the best sound is in white and pink-purple, they are the cleanest, without unfilled places, without noise. The noisiest are the two black vinyls editions - Like wood in a fireplace. Green and red vinyls have a lot of unfilled places, this can be clearly heard between tracks. I recommend white vinyl and pink-purple vinyl (from Amazon Exclusive) to Your collection. You will enjoy from listening these two vinyls editions.

My copy sounds OK.... I have pre-ordered the alternative "boob" cover that's being released in July 2023 on black wax.... Hopefully that'll be better sounding mastering wise. I suspect it's a re-cut from the original DSD masters as they're delaying the release as it's not ready for it's original June release date.

"hand-numbered Japanese inspired Obi".

In order for it to work I guess this kind of ploy only needs 500 dummies to fall for it. The “Japanese inspired obi” can catch on, the perceived value increases, and the more people who believe it, the more contagious the idea of the value increases. No doubt much of the reasoning regarding perceived value in many items is over-inflated magic. [But, I personally try to draw a line at certain points.]

I’d like to cross out the dummies I just wrote, because it is a bit nasty, but come on – wake up! Yes, Lana is collectable; excellent singer, beautiful music, intelligent lyrics, heavy on sarcasm – we want a special edition. And some of the records are exciting to collect. I confess at first I wanted this edition, (when I thought it was authentic, and even that has some level of stupidity).

The use of the word “obi” derives from the sash / band on a kimono. You get these bands on books sometimes, the paper bands are used to information you wouldn’t want to print on the actual book jacket, thus leaving the book jacket uncluttered of certain info; mention of a relevant prize, quote, or dull details such as price, maybe the barcode, then you throw the obi away or keep it as a book mark (it can be called a tummy band in the west).

Similarly the genuine obi strips on Japanese items were printed and used for extra advertising you wouldn’t want on the item for sale (often Japanese particulars which weren’t relevant to the West), the obi is not artwork, it’s like a price tag – so obi strips for CDs and records. In some cases, not many, the actual Japanese item is a higher quality product (ie the actual CD can be a higher grade material than used in the West, sometimes there may be a bonus track . . . ). Because of that real extra value, the Japanese CDs have become collectable with their obi: the obi proved the Japanese provenance (not always Japanese but that is the classic example). With time, rather than discarding the obi, the obi was retained by the collector, and the obi increased the value of the item. Sometimes it was seen as a bit silly, but there was some reason behind it - provenance.

That reason then BREAKS when . . .

The obi for these Assai recordings: what real history do they have? Are they proving their true Japanese origin? What do the Japanese characters state on this UK product and to whom / why is it there? What is the obi’s purpose? – for advertising and other material, to allow the rest of the artwork to be cleaner? And then can the obi be thrown away? NO!!! Apparently we are told these Assai ‘obi’ are “Japanese inspired” – ie: FAKE. 100% FAKE.

Get it? Is that what you want to buy? Making a purchase is like voting for something, it validates it. I won’t be purchasing this. I like the pink edition – it is pretty.

Along comes a collector, “I like the obi, so I want it, if I think it’s worth it, I’ll buy it, don’t rain on my parade”. Ohhhh, OK, go ahead. But I find it a bit irritating that these are the sort of market forces which get exploited and make the market a tad crazy. As the old story goes, when the naked emperor walks by, it is good there is a child there, ready to declare it.

The pops an crackled disapeared after wetgoat cleaning + tonar liquid solution and after that hummingguru ultrasonic cleaning. Who dont have this liquids and machine, i can understand the frustration...
