I orderd this album. My copy is black vinyl. Not translucent at all. But 180 gram, phenomenal sound, quiet, flat and the cover is well printed. Such a dynamic sound suits this classic. The best way to enjoy it.

All Analog pressing sounds phenomenal! The vinyl is flat, quiet, and looks cool to boot. I read this uses the same mastering as used on "The Complete Masters" set, but this doesn't have the pressing defects that had.

Overall this is a great sounding disc, but I do hear something like a "wind" noise on the two copies I have of this "smoke vinyl" edition. Doesn't bother me once music starts, but it's there. I have seen other references to this online. Maybe it's not on all copies.

Edited 2 years agoDEAD QUIET & DYNAMIC! Bought this on a whim as I don’t think I listened to it before and I’m quite stoked to have it in my collection now. One may hear a blip of background noise, but the part that impressed me was the bass solo during “Psalm”. I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BASS. And it was BEAUTIFUL! Haha. I imagine old copies might be all crackly at that part, but not here! Buy w/ confidence! It’s a good lookin’ disc, too. ;)

im guessing this shld sound good since it was done at the mastering lab. was this cut from analog? and yes the black swirl does look lovely in the pics. im sure it will look even better in the flesh

Edited 5 years agoBought a sealed copy and it was warped, total bummer since the pressing is excellent! The black-smoke-translucent vinyl is great looking btw. Ought to get a second copy...

Edited 6 years agoI was worried that sound quality would be an issue, and honestly only picked this up due to the beautiful smoke vinyl variant. I am happy to report that it sounds VERY nice and I have no regrets. The gatefold jacket outer printing is a little less high quality, to my eyes, but it's a solid package in general.
