Edited 10 months agoI have both this mono and a 1965 stereo, and while the mono is a fold down, for whatever reason even if I run the stereo LP through my system so it plays in mono, the actual mono LP just still sounds better—just more realistic, a seemingly clearer sound stage, and the air between my speakers and me just seems more open and vibrant. Is it a mind trick? Dunno! It’s just what I hear. Love this pressing the best.

This is the one to look for. The soundstage packs a punch that is missing in any stereo mix of this record I’ve owned. No reason Coltrane needs to be panned so far off into the left speaker.
-
From what I read this LP was never mastered in mono and the mono is a fold down of the stereo version.

I have a (at best) G+ copy of this that just sounds phenomenal. Honestly, I prefer the sound on this to any other version, including the Acoustic Sounds issue.
-
Is there a version og this record where Coltrane and Elvin Jones are NOT panned so ridiculously hard left/right

Oh snap, Impulse just announced A Love Supreme, Live in Seattle! Turns out, Antibes wasn't the only complete performance.

What amazing music. I got lucky and found a nm copy. Thank you Mr. Coltrane for being who you are and son Ravi.
