Great pressing. No issues at all. Highly recommend as cheaper alternative

I think Varese Sarabande was a idiot to cover up the main cast on the front cover with a printed large hype sticker. What was choosen for the cd release should have been the lp release too as far as the front cover artwork and the words are concerned.

mind blown. it sounds utterly amazing. really happy i went ahead and bought a copy. so good.

A bit of extra dust and extra static charge due to semi gloss inners and no shrink. A wee clean up and this sounds fantastic! Cebtrered, flat and silent surface. Great bass and clean top end. A beautiful presentation of a great soundtrack.

Absolute garbage.
Death Waltz releases are (in my experience) very hit-or-miss when it comes to sound quality, and this release is a big bloody MISS.
SOUND QUALITY - compared to the Varase Sarabande release, the sound is muffled and dull. Stereo separation is decent, but note that the left/right fields have been flipped (?). Bass/low-end is dull... in spots where it should be punchy in the subwoofer, it just falls flat. Disappointing.
Also of note - my Side A has a loud audible 'click' which runs for 4 minutes through two full tracks. No visible damage to the vinyl on those tracks, yet the 'click' cannot be cleaned away... it truly ruins those tracks for me.

AUDIO CONTENT - Very confusing. Definitely different 'takes' on the tracks. Like, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT takes vs. the Varase Sarabande original. Sounds you expect to hear in a track just never occur at all. I don't know the back-story on this (did Carpenter and Howarth record two different takes on the V.Sarabande tracks? Is this Alan Howarth's revisionist redo? Wtf??).
Also of note- the track "Everyone's Coming To New York" is crudely cut-off at the end of the vocal performance. Instead of ending with the lovely piano coda (Nick Castle?) which slowly fades out on the V.S original, here the song just abruptly ENDS as the last words are barely sung... it's horrible, sounds just awful, like someone bumped into the record player and the needle jumped off. Why is it so bad??

PACKAGING- no complaints. Interesting take on the artwork. Comes with a poster on heavy stock, plus a 12" print of the same artwork again, on heavy stock. Printed inner on cheaper thin paper.

Overall, not recommended. Another Disappointing Death Waltz release, where they seem to care a lot more about how a record LOOKS than how it SOUNDS.

2-12 Back to the Pod [Version #1] (1:34) is missing from this tracklist.

I think this is one of John Carpenter’s best scores. Ranks with “Assault on Precinct 13” and “The Fog”. Interesting side note: I have a first press on Varese Sarabande. The vinyl is a deep shade of purple when held to the light. If you have the first press, try it for yourself.

mine is pretty clean and quiet great pressing been wanting this soundtrack for a while

Excellent pressing! No static on the vinyls and little to no noise while playing them.
I usually clean every record i purchase but there was no need with these.
