Edited one year agoThis pressing is def worth it for people that dont wanna give up and arm and a leg even if people are selling it for 60$ and over this is a badass album for any Pink Floyd fan to have thats worth every penny but getting it cheaper is always a score, these newer pressings really benefit if you have a good stylus and giving them an ultrasonic clean might make it sound a bit louder and frees it from the factory process it was in but I just turn the volume up if I have a quiet record and sound quality still sounds great but this remaster is done well for anyone that wants an affordable Animals album this is your best bet (The pressing I got I was not impressed by the amount of hairline scratches I found on the vinyl im assuming this is probably from the factory plant and it annoys me the US doesnt make records like Japan does so stuff like that doesnt happen but other than that it plays fine)

Edited one year ago"Animals" is the overlooked album from the incredible band's output of the '70s, if the previous albums like DSOTM or WYWH were for most of the part very chilled and relaxed, this album is heavier and angrier. I struggle to consider it a Pink Floyd album, more like a Waters' solo work as he wrote and composed all the songs except for "Dogs" which has a little contribution by Gilmour.
This 2016 remaster sounds delicious! It sounds very quiet, but when you crank up the volume of your amplifier that's when the fun begins!
The only reason I wouldn't buy this pressing is the cover, this new colours definitely don't bring the same dystopian and lifeless mood that the original has, also, on Side A there are some constant pops and clicks going from the start of "Pigs On The Wing 1" to the first minute of "Dogs", but it's just me being unlucky. -
I think it is digital, but it soungds very good. I have two Swedish originals and remix 2018 too, and I love this Bernie Grundman remaster better than remix 2018. The Swedish originals are of course the best sounding.

Scored this a few years ago for less than 20 bucks new (lol!). I'm happy with it's playback, nice n quiet, flat pressing, and warrrrm. Cymbals and some highs could be a tad brighter in my opinion, maybe it's my elliptical stylus just not digging deep enough. Will eventually dig deeper with a fine line swap and hear if there's any difference...
Just picked up the original UK pressing and can't wait to compare! Animals is one of the greatest albums ever released by anyone, anywhere, from any time, a testament to the peerless writing of Waters, and the formidable collaborative force that was once Waters/Gilmour (whether David got proper credit or not). Gilmour obviously had way more enthusiasm when contributing his guitar parts here than say, The Final Cut. Sucks that these two still hate one another, and with Wright gone it's now impossible to even think of a proper reunion tour :(
I was too young to have seen this tour live (I was 7 when released), and that's just a low down dirty ass shame! Must have been something to brag about for sure! -
I have long been happy with my standard US and pink vinyl French pressings, but thought I would give this a go since the reviews are so good. It really is as good as people say. Amazing sound on this one. Really all these Floyd reissues are great, so I should not be surprised.

I would like to say not all pressings are created equal.
Nice clean flat pressing I like the soundstage over my British pressing this has way more balls...
The bottom_end is not muddy like the uk cut nor do the high_hats sound like trash cans!
Vocals are more forward in the mix rather then buried guitars have more presence without harshness..
