Why can’t all records be AAA and sound this good at this price? What am I missing in this pressing? So clear
-
Edited 3 months agoI have had this since 2017 and I will affirm this is a really nice copy of this; I would bet it sounds very close to the master tape; some people simply don't like this set (i.e., the song list), but this presentation is excellent. I grew up with a mid-70s Reprise pressing. Also, I would say: I have played this set a lot in the past eight years, and the record is very stable and still quiet. I rate this as a bargain among major-artist re-pressings.

I haven’t heard the famous “Naked Ladies” OG but this sounds great! This is the kind of release that gives one some faith in remasters/reissues of classics. Great packaging, great open soundstage—it’s all there. Does one of those original coveted pressings sound a pinch better? I suppose it’s possible. But the difference is, I paid $30 for this one.

Just opened after years of owning and put on turntable. I have to agree this indeed sounds very good except sound quality on last few tracks of side B the mastering or tape was off or something . Not horrible by no means but you can tell the difference especially when i put disc 2 side C on you could really hear the dynamics and soundstage.

No idea how this compares to other pressings, but the sound here is pretty weak. I imagine it's due to recording rather than mastering. Also just can't get into this musically despite loving his previous two records.

Brilliant sounding record. The stereo panning is awesome! The soundstage is HUGE and the dynamic range is very high.
Unlike my Axis reissue from the same series, the sound fidelity of this record is not consistent. Some song sounds 10/10 as if the band is performing in my listening room. Then there are songs where overall sound is a bit distorted or thin. Also, unlike Axis, some of the songs here lacks the bass punch. I know this was an intended mix.
However, even in songs where the sound quality is a bit inferior relatively, they still sound great!
I am just happy we have these amazing AAA reissues easily available at an affordable price!

Edited 6 months agoI've got the pink RTI inner sleeves on my copy and the matrix/runouts are exactly the same as this pressing, but I can't find a RTI pressing of this with the same runouts...

Excellent pressing at a steal of a price. Sound is spot on with highs that I never knew were there from the original. I don’t hang with the whole “audiophile” thing but I know what I like and what sounds good to me and this one nails it. Winwood’s B3 on Voodoo Chile comes to life like never before, and of course Jimi’s guitar panned hard right has just the right amount of depth and definition. AAA+
