I've been a Zappa fan since, I dunno, 1980 or maybe before. Saw him live that year or 81 maybe in Atlanta. Somehow I just now got around to listening to this album as it came into my hands randomly. It's instantly in my top 5 Zappa albums. I can't stop listening to it, it's a revelation to me. Track one had an unbelievable vibe and groove. Then there's the title track — is there another example on record of Zappa playing acoustic?! My copy sounds just fantastic on my halfway decent system. And I got a good clean VG+ luckily.

No credits at all on original LP release. Credits have been added to some of the LP registrations here. This information most definitely is relevant (if correct), but it doesn't belong to releases that do not have this information. Maybe credits should be placed on MR?

I like the sound of this pressing (although I have not compared to any other). It's punchy.

this, studio tan, and bongo fury are the three zappa releases why i wonder never got a recent vinyl reissue. i wonder if i should wait on that, or just pull the trigger on one of the OG releases.

just another band from la is very likely getting one, i'd reckon. they just re-released an expanded fillmore east...

one of the best zappa albums, but there are many one of the best zappa albums out there....however, i love this one, specially the first and last tracks, there is no filler.....i was shocked, when i bought the cd version with the vocals on it. terrible. zappa was a genius, but when he entered the digital era, he ruined some albums with different mixing etc. the vinyl versions are all the best.
so if you don't know this album be sure you get the instrumental version.
5 stars for the orginal album.

Great album but ruined by Thana Harris's yelling. I'd kept a copy of the original for years and am glad to see it back in circulation.

My favorite Zappa album and I have over 50 of his releases. The Ocean Is The Ultimate Solution is his best song I have ever heard. Even though I wore out my first copy of Apostrophe, Sleep Dirt is the best.
