I found this to be a well balanced version of the debut album. While it's not as loud and aggressive as the OG, it definitely sounds better than the version from the box set (yellow vinyl, I found the yellow pressing to have more sibilance-like issues with the vocals). Also sounds better than the Nautilus (mid range scoop for sure), and the MoFi (nice but a bit flat sounding compared to the others). I don't have the KG cut Rhino HiFi as I ed on it and not willing to pay $150 when I have 2 pressings that sound quite nice (this and the OG). I think the DCC CD is still the best sounding version of all.

This is a crazy good version of the Cars debut. It doesn't hurt that it comes in only what I can describe as Jolly Rancher clear blue color. Bought this at the FYE in Kansas City on 2017. Gives the MOFI a run for its money.

Amazon is selling the R1 135 version in black not blue. I am sure the black version less than the blue version.

Edited 5 years agoBlack vinyl too. A bit embarrassing when you sell it On as blue. How did you add it to your collection as I can’t see the black vinyl version

I also ordered blue vinyl but got black instead. While slightly bummed I didn't get what I initially ordered, but I chose to not complain, just as satisfied with what I received and paid for. The sound is there. That's just what I needed. 😉

Sounds good! My version of the R1 135 is black though. I ordered blue, but got black. No big deal though since I'm only worried about the sound. And it's def. the R1 135, all the markings are there. Anyone else come across this?

Good record. Sound quality is not bad. Dark blue translucent vinyl looks cool regardless of any of my perceived degradation. I'm newer to the hobby, but I like the songs, and my ears also like them.
