Edited 4 months agoI’ve just made a test :
- with a stereo cartridge : a lot of sibilance, sounds flat, dulled, and sometimes distorted… not good.
- with a mono cartridge : no sibilance at all ! Sounds beautiful ! Trebles are detailed, bass punchy, voice is clear and frontal, very dynamic ! This mono pressing is AAA and is the greatest mono pressing I’ve heard of this album.
Hopefully it is still cheap.

Edited one year agoSurprised at the poor reviews for this one! I just popped my copy on for the 1st time in a few years and love how it sounds. Not much in the way of sibilance, and really no surface noise (at least on my copy.) Nice that it still can be had for cheap, I'd strongly recommend it.

Not a great sound. There is not much surface noise and vinyl is free of ticks and pops. But the music sounds dull and flat. Nothing special.
-
Ton of sibilance throughout and some distortion. The music itself also sounds a bit dulled, but maybe I'm just not a fan of the mono mix. Wouldn't recommend

Edited 4 years agoI do not understand the favorable reactions to this 2015 mono pressing. Indeed, it is very quiet and clean between the songs, as with a CD. But otherwise, this pressing sounds like a wet mop. You mainly hear the vocals, harmonica and some percussion; you hardly hear the other instruments. Sounds very flat, no dynamic. What a deception!
-
Anyone compare this Ryan Smith cut to the Sundazed Kevin Gray cut? Also, anyone know about the source used for either?
-
The pressing, and sound both are great! My copy is a "no noise" one, incredible! One needs to get used to the rather dense sound of the Mono mix, but there is base and a fantastic midrange, and clear but not harsh hights. Strongly recommended!

Edited 6 years agoSounds fantastic. The Legacy Vinyl offerings are solid options to the much more expensive pressings out there.
-
This mono-mix is awesome & sounds terrific. Finally this album has bass! Zero distortion, except for some microphone/tape saturation effect, and not a skip or pop to be had on the vinyl itself. A bargain at the $20 Canadian I paid!
