Tragic Kingdom is one of my favourite albums and very nostalgic for me, but are we ever going to get a good pressing of this? It just sounds very flat and compressed. I also had the center hole issue on my copy. We need a 2xLP of this classic album.
-
The album is amazing but this pressing is far from that and is actually terrible. Not only does it sound flat the songs for side A are too long so 'The Climb' just cuts off and it makes a sound like a robot losing power before the record just ends. Avoid this unless you are desperate for this album on vinyl. Hopefully for the 30th anniversary we get a 2LP version that's mastered better.
-
Classic album, minus two stars for sounding like it was cut with a rusty butter knife. Best we're gonna get until they do a 2xLP version.

As others have said, this is a bad pressing. I’ve read many reviews that highlighted bad pressing of whatever album and I always thought the people were being pretentious. Then I came across this pressing and now know what they mean. In my case, with this album, the final track on side A sounds very warbler-y, as if suddenly the needle slide through an oil slick. When I looked up at the turntable, I could see the needle weaving back and forth as it tracked across the album. When I inspected the album, it was apparent that the track was visibly off center. The rest of the album sounds fine. But, for $24 new, that flaw is disappointing.
-
Pretty flat sounding and VERY inconsistent levels between tracks. Towards the center of the record on both sides there is a “wooshing” noise
-
The outer edges of my copy were very badly trimmed, so the disc is slightly larger than normal and unplayable on my turntable. Had it trimmed down and now I can play it, but it was clearly due to bad work on the pressing. The sound is ok, tho.
-
Not bad, but congested and claustrophobic soundstage. No air or luft around the instruments and vocals. Easy to listen to, because it isn't a horrible wall of noise, but maybe this should have been a 2 LP release with music on 3 sides and etched art on the remaining side.
-
I ordered from Amazon and ended up receiving this black vinyl instead. (The listing cited a 2015 release)
The music sounds neutered, no energy and devoid of any personality. It's like listening to 128kbp mp3s from the 90s. Had the same issue with the hole a tad tight, but not enough to need altering -
The center hole on mine came punched too small and I had to enlarge it manually. Feels like they squished the grooves to fit on one LP, considering that the album is an hour long. Sounds okay, but this probably isn't the best pressing.
