Fantastic pressing. Very dynamic and powerful. Great separation in the instruments. No need to look any further. Just get a pressing in near mint condition and your good to go.

Edited 20 years agoCrikey! Where the hell has this been hiding from me. After picking this up recently in a second hand shop on a whim. This is a serious contender for one of my favourite records of all time. Brian Eno's touch certainly shines through on this album giving it an air of Roxy Music's self titled debut. It might be pop but it's the kind of pop which is seldom found nowadays; well produced, fun and danceable.
I couldn't help but notice a few tracks that were reminiscent of some contemporary electronic productions, the main culprit being the hook from 'Mongoloid' which appears to have been lifted by Layo and Bushwhacka for their, ahem, 'club smash' Love Story.
Also of interest is the break in 'Jocko Homo' which could have inspired a certain Mr Richard D. James when remixing Nine Inch Nails 'At the Heart of it All'.
And another Devo influence can be found when listening to 'The Forest' by The Cure who seem to have lapped up the bass hook and drums from 'Gut Feeling'.
But influences aside, this album is an absolute listening delight. It overflows with clanging guitar riffs, whizzing synths, snappy militaryesque drums and outrageous lyrics delivered with punchy attitude and Bryan Ferry style snips of falsetto. Simply fantastic!
Oh yeh, nearly forgot to mention that they have provided the world with a cover version that nearly blasts the original out of the water...'Satisfaction (I Can't Get Me No)'.
