While i await the AP SACD i compared the olde 2006 MoFi Gold cd to the 2011 Japan SHM SACD and it was no contest. The Jap disc was an aural assault of the fatiguing kind, where 2 mins of "detail" becomes a headache at proper listening levels. The MoFi is altogether better balanced with slam in the bass and textures galore but no digital nastyness. In fact its so good the AP SACD could well find itself getting beat. I am expecting the usual AP clean and realistic sound, dynamic of range but softer of transients and weaker in the bass. Bring it on AP!!!

The Stereo SACD layer is in your face, bright and loud. Not harsh per sè but definately comes in hot. At normal and low volumes i quite enjoy it. At high volimes my head was starting to ache. The Mofi Gold Cd i have to compare is more dynamic, more expansive and not as tough to listen to. I would definately takrme this over the Rhino CD but i would urge listeners to go for the Mofi CD if possible. Tested on Marantz SA12SE.

The 2 channel layer on this is absolutely top-notch. Rarely do I use the expression "blown away" but this really did blow me away. In my opinion, only the Mobile Fidelity HQ1S pressing is superior to this. -
