I recently picked up a pristine copy of this release for $45 at local vinyl shop to replace my long lost original. Simply amazing pressing. Brings back memories of high school seeing The Who at the LA Forum 2 nights back to back in ‘73 on their Quadrophenia tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd opening unannounced . This vinyl pressing beats any CD remoter by a long shot

Blows away my MFSL gold CD. Superb master by The Mastering Lab’s Arnie Acosta perfectly balances the vocals and instruments. Great soundstage and separation.

Edited 2 years agoExcellent pressing. This is a clean, wide, detailed listening experience. This is perhaps the most ambitious recording the Who has every released. It has all the power of Tommy with a more sophisticated story about teenage angst. In my opinion this is the Who at their peak. -
Edited 2 years agoThis is my least favorite Who record, a rock opera to follow Tommy. Songs combine elements of folk, psychedelic, and even a touch of early prog rock.
For a two disc album, there's a bit much filler, IMO.
Highlight is "Love, Reign O'er Me", which is an exceptional rocker with some great heavy drumming.
The mix is clean and detailed. The Who manage to sound heavy without the need for overdriven guitar. This is a nice characteristic of their sound.
This older pressing is quite nice, I cannot imagine a better presentation of their sound. -
This is a great sounding version. If you are looking for the best vinyl US pressing version, this is it. You will not regret it.👍🏼 -
Listened to this a few times now, and I give high marks to this pressing. Beautifully mixed, warm, clear, with strong drums and bass. Simply a lovely representation of this masterpiece.
