This is one of the more wonderful LPs I have ever owned. I am blown away by how clean it is, particularly for a picture disc. This is a very special album. And from The Cure in 2025? Easily one of their best and my favorite. Add to that, it is one of the more unique Blood editions.

mmmm.. the sound it's not so perfect as the standard black vinyl...
but here my direct rip:

Apparently there are many records that have some significant popping/cracking on the intro of the b-side...who has this problem? Just to have an idea....

It’s a picture disc, so I wouldn’t expect perfect audio. There is a fair bit of background noise when the music isn’t playing, but when it is it all sounds pretty good and it helps that it’s a very enjoyable listen. I’m enjoying the excesses of the glow-in-the-dark disc and the thermo-reactive cover, a fun package, and glad to have paid the original price rather than the current going rate!

"Songs Of A Lost Word" finds The Cure mixing atmospheric elements and heavy metal with words of resignation and reflection.
All of the songs sound like the type of music to conceive a child to in this cold, dark, world.
First listen was in a rainy day in BHM, AL and I couldn't have thought of a better place.
O'Donnell's synths are ambient, Cooper's drums are tribal, and Smith can sing about anything - including the albums overall topics of aging, nihilism, and brokenness - and make it sound award worthy with the team he's assembled to create this project.
This album will deserve every revisit I give it over time.

Very poor packaging from Blood Records. Inner arrived damaged. They never agreed to send me a replacement, as before I took a picture, I colored the damages in black to hide them. (Silly move, I know). They even accused me of having damaged it more. Not nice. Very poor customer service.

Edited 6 months agoIt’s beautiful, I thought how am I going to store this? But I packed it in a double sleeve with left side the thermo active sleeve and a picture disc sleeve on the right. But I wanted to restore it in my closet and the picture disc fell out of it (because the opening on the double sleeve is on the right), hit my toe and fell on the floor, after a near heart attack the record had nothing. So put your picture disc sleeve opening pointing above and then slide it in the right side (hope this all makes sense).
But beautiful songs, no damage on the vinyl (luckily), looks amazing, the thermo heat sleeve is just fantastic and as a cure fan, I just needed this version. It’s amazing! And it had for the first time a cover for your picture disc included, never seen that and loved that! So 5/5. Get your hands on this. -
Great album, nice to have this Blood Records version, but it sounds terrible, cracks and pops everywhere….. the albums sounds on every vinyl I have not very good by the way but the others don’t have cracks and pops ….
