Love the remix, more jump and clarity to my ears. Would be a perfect 5 stars if not for the poor pressing with some grating artifacts in ‘Maybe I’m a Leo’. Still worth it though. Adding ‘When a Blind Man Cries’ to side two is the best bonus! If only Fleetwood Mac had added ‘Silver Springs’ to ‘Rumours’.

My press is clean and flat, the sound is good, Zappa’s mix opens the sound up a bit more, a little more air in the mix relative to the original which I think is very dry, I have listened to this 6 or 7 times in the last week and this will probably b my go to spin for this record. Hype sticker says its from the original tapes and it certainly sounds like it ( not digital at all) its warm and clear, my only problem was Zappa did some funky reverb/phasing on the vocals here and there ( just a little) … at first it bothered me but with repeated spins I barely notice it now. Another bonus is u get the Blind Man single ( B side) which is nice , overall a nice buy at $23

Edited 7 months agoThe tracklist description is missing: When a Blind Man Cries. The photo on the back cover shows 8 tracks, not 7. There is also information about this on the sticker on the cover.

Drums are forward and brighter overall, I like it but it is a different take on a classic. Amazed that this is MRP, flat and reasonably quiet pressing.

Edited 7 months agoSo I will say I've listened to this album probably 50+ times in my lifetime. I have an original green label, the back to black remaster, and I purchased this out of curiosity. The biggest thing I notice on the remix is more on your face drums and the Hammond organ being more buried in the mix, which for me personally is a downfall as I love the sound of that instrument. It is MUCH brighter than the original. Sonically, it is nice and loud with punch but it is too clean and polished sounding for my personal taste. I will keep it since it puts a different sound on such an iconic album but for me I am going to stick to the original.

Can anyone give information about the quality of this pressing? I know it’s the Dweezil Zappa remix, which some don’t like, but how’s the actual vinyl quality of this?
