Stay away from this release. It lacks any and all dynamics, it sounds like it was recorded with a tape recorder. Not worth the money at all there are many other great Live doors records out there.

Better than the majority of bootlegs, but completely lacks a dynamic sound. Flat and mashed together sonically. Some blame the age of the recording, but that is only part of it as I have heard some older recordings sound a lot better. It is what it is and frankly, I am selling my copy because one listen was enough as there is plenty of other live Doors material out there much better.

As someone who did a ton of live band recording at venues all around the country, I find the pearl clutching as to the quality of this recording a bit mystifying. Finally getting around to listening to this, and it’s very solid. Stage recording (and surreptitious recording at that) is a complete hit and miss proposition. Factor in in the fact that the levels are where they should be and the balance is solid, and you have a very very acceptable recording. Completely enjoyable vintage bootleg. I have hundreds of others from many other artists that sound much much worse.

I wonder if the QS might be different in some way from the "Made in the USA" vinyl one... https://www.discogs.sie.com/release/29962912-The-Doors-Live-In-Bakersfield-August-21-1970

The Doors – Bright Midnight: Live In America CD was released in 2001 containing one song from this concert (Love me two times). It sounds better on that CD than on this vinyl. Strange.

probably what most people are complaining about is the mastering. it's all over the place. up down left right quiet loud bass siblance. other than that it's a great show. great setlist. i do wish riders on the storm will pop up on a live release in the near future.

Granted the audio is low generation but it doesn't detract from the great performance - once your ears adjust. The vinyl pressing is poor - pitted so it pops and clicks .... The CD is fine. Sadly, the quality seems to have dropped at Rhino/ Warners/whatever- as has their appetite to do these releases properly- only limited 1400 of this and the Matrix 5 Lp box set which was poorly designed, manufactured ....only buying CD versions from now on.

What is wrong with the people who say this is crap?? This is a 54 year old live recording from a frigging tape recorder. I had this on a bootleg tape in the early 80's. My wife picked this album up for me for Christmas (#3694) and I love it. No surface noise and I haven't even cleaned it yet. Sounds great cranked!!! I'll take anything that is "new" from the Doors as they are my favorite band.

Overall this live vinyl release is a pure crap. I’ m just not buying Hendrix new lost recordings that sound like a mud and I ‘ ll do the same with these bad and scam recordings, worse than a bootleg. Jim would be roaring if he heard these muds. As others have said here the problem is the mastering and poor production. Live at hollywood Bowl also was a blow, I have a Bootleg italian that sounds incredible compare with Rhino crap edition. As others have said is better buy the CD version. Forget this obsolete cheap vinyls from Checkia. Why doesn't Classic Vinyl take care of this? They produced incredible lost material of Hendrix with hight standard, also about Dylan. Doors deserve no less.
