All selections published by MainMan, Ltd. (ASCAP)
Recorded at CBS Studios, London
Mixed at Western Sound, Hollywood
Iggy and The Stooges represented exclusively by MainMan, Ltd.
Original UK copies did not credit Iggy and the Stooges and did not say Raw Power on the front cover, and the custom inner sleeve with initial copies (this) is a black and white close up of front cover shot of Iggy Pop by Mick Rock.
Other copies appear to have regular CBS inner bags advertising the then current LP releases on that label, some including a review of Raw Power itself.
Red Columbia logo on front cover.

I own and regularly play my UK original with the Mick Rock inner. It has the drums way up on S&D, the way I prefer. It also has a much clearer and better mix of Death Trip, which is really muddy on the US pressing. Drums here are clear and far left channel. Matrices:

The very first uk pressing (or all 1973 uk pressings?) have a different mix of s&d. I have two CBS Embassy reissues from 77 where one has the "common" mix and the other has the different mix.
My question to you who has a uk first pressing with the different s&d: Does it also have a different mix raw power? Somtimes early 80's I heard an early pressing where, as I it, raw power had the backing vocals as on the later Iggy mix. I have also read about a Dutch version having a different mix. -
I've got two original UK first pressings of this album and neither have the black and white Iggy inner sleeve. Both have a CBS records "The Inner Sleeve" advertising other CBS artists of the time such as Miles Davis, Soft Machine, Tim Hardin and Home etc. The black and white inner does seem more desirable and rarer.

This pressing of "Raw Power" does contain a completely different mix of "Search and Destroy." On this version, the drum sound is very much up front and the end of the song gradually fades out, while on the U.S. pressing of the LP the end cuts off abruptly. I don't know if both mixes were done by Bowie or not but they're both from the original release of the album. I've never heard this version of the song anywhere else.

Edited 2 years agoAnybody able to help -I have a UK original 65586 Orange label .The version of 'Search & Destroy' is much different, quite a cluttered mix with a muddy sound to the cut on the 77 repress & all those that were pressed up to the Iggy Remix.
I read some time later in a Bowie interview( printed via internet) that said he 'was allowed' (by Iggy) to mix the lp in '72 as long as he left 'search& destroy ' alone- do all the original versions have this mix??.
-the rest of the lps sound is basically the same with some slight differences. But this may be due to the vinyl being much heavier than the '77 (& after)represses as the 'Bowie mix' as it became known had dropped 'Iggys version' of 'Search & Destroy' for a version that that fits in with sound of the rest of the tracks - quite high pitched with guitars clear ,but not much of Rons bass.
