Nice sounding LP, with an RKS mastering which renders the stereo-mix in great detail & with an impressive soundstage. So much so in fact that a forensic examination of the recording is possible due to terrific delineation of instruments. Bob's voice is 'right-there' too. Not much bass to the whole enterprise, but there's always the mono-mix for that punchy driving presentation. This LP is all about the details. Pressing quality could be better but pretty good for the $15 it cost me, a damn fine deal on a sealed new slab of hot-wax to say the least. Just sayin'...

This stereo edition by RKS is very good. This was a very well recorded album to begin with (stereo and mono) but give credit where it is due. RKS has a continual record of quality work like with the Dylan monos. Now find one of these that doesn’t have some type of pressing issue. Right out of the box on Subterranean I have a clicking sound for about the 1st 30 seconds. Ugh. Some modest noice here and there. The paper sleeves, you get the point. Agree with Tommyboy (on all these major three rereleases) in that we see the same stuff with National on these pressings over and over. It does sound very good but can we not screw up a good thing … over and over. Frustrating.

I love this album personally, and my copy really doesn't have a problem with it as far as I can tell. It sounds pretty good, not the most amazing pressing I've heard for sure, but it sounds generally well balanced. It lacks more of a warm sound that you will probably get from older/vintage/MOFI versions of this pressing but it does it's job. For the casual listener you will have no issues, for the intense audiophile you'll probably be slightly underwhelmed but not dissapointed.

Have no prior pressing to compare to, but the side 2 label was applied off center. Quiet pressing and to my ears the dynamic range is good given the age of the recording.

Filthiest sealed record I've ever opened. Covered in dust and smudges and spindle damage as well. Do better Columbia. The LP is drying currently so I haven't spun it yet I'll update when I do
Ok, LP cleaned and aside from a super tight spindle hole I'm very happy with the overall sound. Great sound stage and stereo separation, harmonica not harsh, first time Mr. Tambourine Man hasn't annoyed me.

I'm very disappointed with my copy. It's a bit dished, a bit pressed off-center, was pretty dirty when I took it out of the sleeve, skips on some places and has inner groove distortion. I did not compare with a European copy of this pressing, but I have EU pressings of "Freewheeling" and "Times are a-changing" and both are flawless. Will definitely return it, and I hope my second copy will be better.
EDIT: received my replacement copy, as bad as the previous one. Will ask for a refund and order a EU copy.

This sounds good, not great. It's boring, and lacks energy. It sounds identical to the 24-bit version streaming on Apple Music (and my digital setup is nothing compared to my analog setup!). It is quite bass shy, and everything just sort of plays out without any excitement, but it is very clear. If I had to guess, I would say it was cut from the same digital files as the one on Apple Music. It doesn't sound bad by any means, but it leaves a bit to be desired. I don't have a MFSL copy to compare to, unfortunately, but I do have several other MoFi titles from Dylan's catalog. They sound remarkably better than this. However, given the circumstance, this will suffice and will make a nice "casual listening" player copy.

sounds great!!!! of course i dont have the mofi or a original to compare with but i own several audiophile pressings and standard pressings and i would rank this up there in sound quality especially for the price point!

How does this sound in comparison to the MOFI / Original ? Is it on par with the mono box?
