Notes
Issued in a thick gatefold cardboard sleeve with a textured and grainy finish quite similar to the Endtroducing... (20th Anniversary Endtrospective Edition) box set released in 2016, the inner sleeves are also having the same aspect of quality. The records are pressed on a solid light blue 180g vinyl. Unlike other pressings of “Endtroducing...”, the b-side starts with “What Does Your Soul Look Like (Pt. 4), while on other pressings it starts with the song “Changeling”. This seems to be the only pressing that has this difference.
Endtroducing... is written with three periods on inner sleeves, five on the labels and hype sticker, and nowhere on the sleeve. 1st cat# is on gatefold's spine, 2nd cat# is on hype sticker, and 3rd cat# is on labels. The barcode is a sticker affixed on back sleeve.

Everyone on here saying that this is the copy to get...yeah, they're right. This pressing is absolutely fantastic in every way. The track reordering works so well here, there is zero surface noise, the bass is so incredibly present, the volume is wonderful. It's an experience, pick up a copy.
Nitpicks: the inner sleeves are just unlined paper, so I moved my discs into rice paper sleeves. The center bores on both of my records were a little tight, so getting on/off spindle is a touch annoying. Other than that, zero complaints here. -
Repressing of the Endtroducing... remastered discs included in the 20th Anniversary Endtrospective Edition, which by all s was the definitive version of the album.
- Excellent pressing by Optimal. quiet and clean wax. I don't think it is mentioned specifically but these discs are a solid 180g
- If you're going to cut electronic/IDM/trip-hop for vinyl, you absolutely want Barry Grint cutting the lacquers
- Despite some speculation about the Universal fire, according to Josh himself the original sources were not lost. This cut is from the original masters (unlike the 2011 Back To Black which uses secondary digital)
- It's cut lower than the original 2002. But there is no apparent surface noise here so the volume isn't a negative factor for this release. But the choice was made here for good reason...
- The sequencing here is clutch and the defining aspect of this release. By moving Changeling to A4 and ending Side A with Transmission 1, each side except Side C ends with a Transmission. Previously Transmission 1 was in the middle of Side B and Transmission 2 started Side C. This is why the album had to be cut at a lower volume, but the results are very rewarding. After hearing this it's hard to go back to an older version. The transitions between discs are perfect and add to the atmosphere. The Transmissions into deadwax are eerie at the least. Love the attention to detail and how it elevates the listening experience.
- Jacket and sleeves are nothing new, but the materials are sturdy. Much better than the 2011, 2002 and 96. The Gatefold fills the space and there's no unnecessary gap in the middle.
- I'm not into colored wax, but I would have loved this one to match the two different greens of the labels
There's little room for improvement here. Unless RTI or Pallas comes along and represses this, I can't see a better version coming along for a while. It's possible we might see a "US" repress. Get this one or the complete 20th Anniversary Endtrospective Edition with confidence.
NOTE: this review was originally posted 10/25/2022 but was removed (assuming it was the external link to Josh's comments which you'll have to find on your own now):
UPDATE: I have also compared the Abbey Road Half Speed Remaster. While in it's own right (and for the price) sounds good enough to beat out common generic pressings floating around, it doesn't have a place next to the Essig cut or the Grint cut. There is no comparison on the low end, and the range is just not there. Overall bright and thin. Looses much of it's charm for the sake of attempting to pronounce more detail on the high end. The Grint or the Essig cuts are still the ones to go after for anyone looking for the best pressings out there. -
THE definitive release for Endtroducing. Worth every bang for your buck. Sounds phenomenal, has the amazing gatefold, AND has What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt. 4 and Untitled. 100% worth it, what else can I say.

Quality album which will surely get much more revered as time further es. The packaging and pressing of this release suitably matches in quality also. Got a NM- copy on eBay for £25 (+£5.55 postage). Bargain :)

sounds solid. packaging is still nice, but not as substantial as i expected. it's a very slightly grainy jacket with these decent inners, i just expected it to be a bit thicker. still a great package though, easily the definitive edition of this album.

Picked my copy up from the HMV exclusive vinyl week this morning (1000 copies available exclusively at hmv in the UK).
Just played it all through, gorgeous pressing. Came out clean, played like an audiophile special. You’ll be very happy with this if you have a nice set up - but can’t comment for the audiophiles with £5k+ set ups!
