The lyrics are very personal of course, but this album mostly has waters either whispering or screaming/shouting.
And where is Rick Wright? or any synths in general?
I will say this, SONICALLY it's fantastic. -
Edited one year agoIs it my perception of it, or does the first side of this album actually just not 'go anywhere'?
It seems to just ramble on with quiet sections and then a bit of a song and then more 'commentary'.
It's very much a RW solo effort, IMHO. -
One of two seemingly 'lost' PF albums...No deluxe reissue (eg. The Wall) and totally ignored in the massive 'Later Years' box set...Is there some sort of injunction on this album or does the whole band hate it and pretend it doesnt exist?
The other 'lost ' album being Animals , no deluxe/expanded reissue ever, no Immersion Box set unlike the lps either side of it, and still no sign of the long promised 5.1 mix. -
Not only Roger Waters' best personal project, but the best vocal performance of his career, bar none. One of the rare experiences you'll have as a listener: vulnerability and self-exorcism. He lays his id down bare here, sparing nothing. Do NOT expect more Pink Floyd... except in brief flashes.

Oh, my, what pretentious crap compared to the fanci- and playful beginnings of this group! ! I feel nothing but a pain in the ear when the singer (?) descends on the listener with his unsubstantiated outbreaks. What a long and finally (!) bitter way from brilliancy and resourcefulness to pompous vacuity! :-(

I have the version EMI-Harvest, 1C 070-65 042 (3rd issue, standard gatefold cover, codebar, picture labels, code: LC-1305, BIEM/GEMA credits), but I can't find it on discogs. Can someone help me?

My Columbia pressing is stellar. Dead quiet vinyl, one of the best records I own and one of my favorites by Pink Floyd.
