Sparks – Terminal Jive

Pallas continue to turn out garbage / noisy pressings. The once great plant has turned into a GZ counterpart. Mastering is excellent and the only saving grace.

Overall the album has a more "new wave" feel than the purer disco of "No 1 in Heaven" but both albums with Giorgio Moroder are winners in my book. "Noisy Boys" is a stand out song on Terminal Jive, too bad they didn't release as a single.

Does anyone have this and can comment on the pressing?

This is a very nice pressing. Punchy, lively sound and a quiet surface.

For me the best Sparks album. Every song dances on the line between disco & post-disco sweetness. Young Girls is a gem of a tune.

After the superb and engaging 'No1 in Heaven' Sparks were burdened with coming up with something as successful as its predecessor. They failed, probably because of a lack of production 'magic'. The songs are fine but they've all been put together the same way and at the same bpm and the same delivery. Moroder's sequencers would never have sounded so repetetive as this.

Get the 1995 CD release if you wan't a decent sounding copy of this album, avoid Repertoire Records' stuff at all costs. Muddy, compressed and most of the time, sourced from vinyl.
