I was amazed when I bought this because of the double groove side.
Are there many 12" singles with a double groove like this?

What was the reason they have done it this way to put 2 not-so-long songs on a 12" side?

The Latin Version appears to be the same track as on the MOV 10" a few years ago, "Live Latin Performance Vancouver 2000," except edit on this 12" fades out before Robin starts listing various cities for a couple of minutes (those vocals sound live). However, Rumba Calzada was not credited on that earlier RSD release.

A-side, or an edit of, is the mix usually used on M compilation CDs as the "1989 Remix" (including "New York London Paris Munich" CD reissue, in the bonus tracks). The edited version removes the traditional intro flourish and about 30 seconds of the start of the track. The mix is more varied than commercially released 1989 7" remix.
B-side is essentially the 1989 Freestyle Dub 7", but with some additional vocal samples/loops from Robin fairly low in the mix. This mix appears to be unique to this 7" release.
My copy also has the Gut Reaction hype sticker, so it may be this 7" was primarily issued as a promo/alternative mix for radio stations.

Great flat pressing, although mine has quite a few black smudges. Side 1 is pure class, hearing unreleased versions by Robin. Whilst the first half of Side 2 is a pretty good dub house interpretation I was disappointed that it is a medley with the band's own song "Rock The West Side". The second half of the mix is solely that track! A better vocal remix of Pop Music appears on Second Sun's debut album, although that is also partially mixed so you don't get a clean start/end.
Side 1 is a must for M fans though, whilst Side 2 is more a curio (and some purists will shun)!

I have copy 000810 - the pink vinyl actually has quite a lot of dark smudges in it, is this the same for all copies? (Sounds great though!)

The happy infant on the cover is Berenice Scott - Robin Scott's daughter.

That is the most freak that i saw, two Tracks at the same time sharing the b side Without cuts, its difficult to play it, because you have to lift the stylus of the turntable until you sound the one you want.
