I'm overall quite happy with this. Bought new for 30 dollars whilst looking for something else. Slight noise between tracks but still sounds punchy and clear.
An amazing album that reminds me of better days. -
A solid copy of this album. Nothing to write home about (I do hear some sibilance issues), but vinyl is flat and pretty quiet. I wish this was a 45RPM copy.
-
Ordered the 2xLP 33RPM version from WalMart thinking it was the 2017 Rainbo/Bellman reissue, but it has a "Made In Poland" sticker on back, and the runout etchings (from what I can tell, but first two letters are tough to say for certain) are:
Side 1: 0957443-A-1
Side 2: 0957443-B-1
Side 3: 0957481-C-1
Side 4: 0957481-D-1
the 9 could be a g, or even an incomplete 8 -- hand etched and very difficult to get it in focus with a camera or see against light in the window.
the label #'s and UPC are the same as those listed for the 2017 Rainbo/Bellman pressing.
The great news is that it sounds great and the vinyl is quiet/flat - a great bargain for how it sounds, IMO (Ortofon 2M Bronze > Marantz 6300 > Marantz 2275 > JBL L112s). Anyone know where this was made and who mastered? -
I purchased this one believing that I would be receiving the 45rpm European variant from DGC that people have been raving about, but it ended up being the 33rpm US version. I was thoroughly annoyed, but I still wanted to give this one a chance. And I could have looked past the constant rumble in the background of quiet parts and the generally “okay” sounding mix, but once I heard the nasty sibilance halfway through Omaha and then the entire way through Mr. Jones, well I got pissed, shut it off, and ordered the 45rpm Analogue Productions version. We’ll see how that one goes once it gets here. There really is No excuse for subpar pressings of any album, let alone iconic albums like this.
-
The 2017 re-issue is quite good. Not great, with a little bit of noise. But overall a good purchase. Gatefold with cheap paper inner sleeves.
-
Can anyone comment on the quality of this pressing? Especially compared to the Analogue Productions release from 2012? I've been contemplating pulling the trigger on the AP release but the price-point on this is much more appealing.
