My dudes! This vinyl sounds terrific! Most excellently balanced mix. This is a really good listen. The vinly is very darkly semi-translucent. And yes, the back cover is flipped. This is not by mistake and is completely intentional.

Before Eddie and Alex decided to kick David Lee Roth out of the band they released 1984. And all was well with the world. This album produced a number of classic moments for the 'big 80's':
- great and fun videos, along with top charting songs.
- Eddie on keyboards enhancing his already awesome rhythm lines on the incredible 'Jump'.
- 'Panama' - a tour de force of guitar and Roth vocal silliness that pushed it right over the top and into maximum MTV rotation.
No one could touch this band in 1984 and this album still stands up. That is if you like shredding guitar, screaming vocals, and hit singles.
Then Eddie and Alex supposedly grew tired of Roth and his goofy actions and kicked him out of the band and went with Sammy Hagar, who did a credible job for a number of years until Eddie and Alex kicked him out of the band.
If you want to know what all the fuss was about in the early to mid-80's then pick this cd up.
Then pick up the earlier releases - most notably VH 1 and VH 2. Then move on the Hagar material. It's not bad - just not as good as 1984 or anything that came before it. -
I noticed people think these are misprints, because the back is upside down, I assure you it is not. Walmart 2022 pressings are that way as well, as ones from 1984. It has been this way the whole time. Sleeve opening on the front cover should be on right side, and should be on the right side as well if looking at the back right side up (not upside down). The Japanese version that claims to be a misprint is actually not, look at the ribbon wrap, the top part has red and white stripes on the left side of the album that continues to the back. When it is flipped top to bottom with the label still on the left the ribbon red and white stripes continue on the photo at the bottom left of the back side. Note they put the ribbon on the spine.

Hot For Teacher is easily the best drum intro of any rock track. Nothing can compare to that, incredibly creative and well executed.

I got a version that doesn't line up with any on Discogs.
The closest is this one.
Etched A : 1-23985-A SH9 SLM △ 5872 –––◁1-4
Etched B : 1-23985-B SH8 #4 SLM △ 5872 –––◁1-9
Any help would be appreciated.

1984 is the bridge that brought VH to the mainstream, sort of like Metallica's Black Album, but David left right after the tour. Although, he did come back and record 'A Different Kind Of Truth', so we should be grateful for that, as that is the last studio lp.
As for the lp, it's their 2nd best lp with Dave. You'll be rocking once you get past the 'keyboard' songs on it, however, this is much better than its predecessor, 'Diver Down'.
RIP Eddie Van Halen. You were always my favorite guitarist/band. I know your music willcontinue to inspire others. -

My copy matches the matrix above and is also on Quiex vinyl meaning I can shine a light through the vinyl.

THE album to have when it came out. I was 11 and walked to the local K-Mart (I had a paper route - $200/month to satisfy my record/tape collection lol) to buy a cassette copy for $8.99. Love that album.
