Did all copies come with 4 cardstock inner sleeves? 2 of the 4 on my copy are slightly bigger and allow for the use of mofi inners within them which is nice.

Awesome album, very nice to see them do some experimenting right after their huge success with Rumors instead of playing it safe. I love the packaging here as well, and the sound is great as well.

Lindsey Buckingham's middle finger to popular expectation. (He threatened to quit the band if it wasn't made.) And one of the best double albums of all time. It's not Rumours, but if you're looking for a deeper, more substantive Fleetwood Mac, this is it.

Tusk is simply an outstanding rock album. Looking back at the entire Fleetwood Mac catalogue from the time Lindsey Buckingham ed, this album easily benefits from relatively little airplay over the years. Only "Sara" and the title track are ever really heard on the radio. Partly as a result of its seeming obscurity, the songs sound fresh and alive.
There is a striking, effective musical balance across the album that would not be duplicated in the band's entire career. Buckingham's shorter, catchy pop songs are contrasted with Stevie Nicks's bigger, more dramatic works. And Chris McVie's contributions walk a thin (but important) line between them and demonstrate her mature songwriting skills.
My favourite tracks are:
Buckingham -- Ledge, Save Me a Place, Not That Funny, That's All For Everyone (his best on this album), Walk a Thin Line
Nicks -- Sara, Sisters of the Moon (Gold Dust Woman has nothing on this), Angel, Beautiful Child (a stunning, gorgeous song)
McVie -- Over & Over, Brown Eyes (features a great, dark, warm late-70s sound), Honey Hi
All in all, this is Fleetwood Mac's best album. Each of their three very strong songwriters were given vast spaces to stretch out and the results are positively fantastic. -
Edited 18 years agoOften identified as an overindulgent artist album, 'Tusk' was received with mixed reviews and for many (those expecting Rumours 2) it was a disappointment. Tusk is quite simply an amazing (albeit sprawling record) that listened to in whole is deep and emotional. The single, 'Tusk', is an amazing piece of recording achievement where the sound of a marching band is stepped on and compressed into something original in its own regard. This is a misunderstood record that really has never received a fair shake. Seek it out.
