This is such an astonishing piece of music, I can't put my feelings while listening to this into words, thanks Thomas! (9,5/10)

I must say, that this is one of the best minimal sound collage CDs I own. The japanese title DAIKAN stands for "great cold". Pure machine music without a single ray of light.
It begins with a phat, dark drone with a deep and long drum sound that Köner used like a gong. The combination of drum and gong takes a while to fade off and then on again. Very often. But it's changing. Anytime, there is something new to discover. Good speakers are shaking with joy, and the neighbors stare anxiously into the sky, if there is an alien destroyer ship from Roland Emmerich's "Independence Day" that comes approach.
Check it out.

An absolutely outstanding hypnotising geniune work! I've been listening to this record for all day, and every time I had to switch it off and I did it I had a burning will to turn it on again. I don't want to go deep into music analyzing of this record I want only say that the concept of the soundscape seemed very simple to me: while listening to this record you can have a feeling that kind of sound is very common to you and maybe it could be heared somewhere else: at some technological facilities or maybe it can remind you the plane's high flight's sound while being outdoor and etc, but with some kind of unique mystic taste!
Marvellous work! Worth to check!

Thomas Köner is one of the very few able to take the droning ambient genre to unequalled heights. Although very minimal, Daikan feels dense and grabs your attention from the beginning till the end. A very thick, pretty apocalyptic - yet remaining tranquil - soundscape offering the abstract basis on which you can build your own illusions (and believe me, you will).

'Daikan' is a most superb piece of ambient music which, rises falls, shifts, drits and rolls. This track has the same hypnotic effect as the ebb and flow of waves in the sea. For the best effect, listen to is in a darkened room and try meditating to it! This is the perfect music to help place you into a hypnogogic state.
