Edited 8 years agoAubrites are a group of meteorites named for Aubres, a small achondrite meteorite that fell near Nyons in 1836. Thomas Köner's 'Aubrite' also fell like a meteorite in the world of Eno-ruled ambient scene in 1995. Highly original and novel, transcending conventional rhythm/melody relations and exploring instead novel possibilities within the sound colour. Result? Deep ZEN ambient penetrating the ears and reaching the Heart, pure bliss, a totaly new experience, a totaly new dimension of ambient music. If you missed Köner, you missed ambient's most fascinating chapter.

Edited 19 years agoSo many records are labelled ambient, when they are really just chilled, or downtempo, or pretty. This is a record of true ambience. The harsher metallic tones of Teimo and earlier albums are gone on Aubrite, the record is a deep blur of incredible bass tones, from which the vaguest music emerges, unfolding over long periods. The effect is meditative, evoking deep stillness and calm.
