Edited 15 days agothis actually sounds pretty good for what it is. it doesnt have nearly the low end depth of the US pressings from 1971 or 1975, but it still sounds pretty good and will save you hundreds of dollars in comparison. i did just give away my copy of this pressing to a co-worker of mine, but i had bought my copy brand new about 15 years ago from an online shop specializing in deleted/discounted/dead stock 'modern' pressings . right out of the sleeve, it had a trivial bit of surface noise from being slid out of the static-clingey paper inner, but it sounded pretty good regardless.

Edited 26 days agoI must have got lucky as the sound on my copy is actually very good. I do have cracks and pops between songs but I haven't cleaned it.
I find it a very enjoyable listen. -
Edited 26 days agoLove the music, however, much of this pressing is unlistenable due to static-like sound pressed into brand new vinyl. Very disappointed! I can’t listen to it, but will enjoy the cover picture.

Edited 26 days agoThe mastering and soundstaging is really detailed and actually done quite well--and the sound is in line with an original Parliament vinyl I have. The band sounds really dynamic on this pressing, which is a godsend after I initially bought that awful mp3-ish 4 Men With Beards pressing.
The drawback is that the vinyl was likely pressed with extraneous noise in spots, which sucks if you're paying $20 for a new record. Not really the fault of anyone but the pressing plant. (Also a good vinyl record isn't just "dead quiet." That's a benefit, but don't you actually care about the sound quality? The dynamics of the voice and instruments, and how they fill a room?)
If you ever bought cheap used vinyl before, something tells me you can live with the spots of noisy vinyl. It's worth it for how out-of-this-world Eddie Hazel's guitar solos sound. When a cleaner $20 pressing of this album comes out, get that. Or if a $50 audiophile 45rpm AAA version comes out, jump on that. Otherwise get this. Or maybe a scratched up earlier version of the record. Whichever's cheapest and best, which this version seems to be right now.

Edited 26 days agoIts not as bad as people below say in my opinion. The cover is cheap but the music sounds good to me. No skip or anything like that. I like it. Surely 70s pressing sounds better but still.

Edited 26 days agoThis is an ok press at best. The cover feels nice. But the liner notes are almost unreadable on the back. There’s also no gatefold like the originals had, which sucks. The worst thing about this press though is that it’s pressed to quietly so you have to crank it up loud just to hear the title track. Then the rest of the songs are super loud when they come on. It’s an ok starter copy, but I’ll definitely be moving up to a first press soon.

Edited 26 days agoDon’t purchase this pressing If you see it! Low quality and high potential for skips and distortion in the music. You are better off getting a worn copy of an original if you can.
