Notes
NOT the UK first press as it does have 'A Promotone N.V. Record' on label at 9 o'clock. Promotone N.V. Record company was not set up until after April 1971 (date of release), likely around September 1971 (Billboard Sept 15, 1971 issue page 44).
A3/B3 matrix is the first known matrix for this release.
"Small" metal zipper on front that unzips to reveal cotton briefs.
Sleeve is open at both top and bottom of sleeve.
No writing on rear of sleeve, just tongue logo bottom right.
Inner with picture of band on one side.

I recently bought a A4/B4 copy, without the inscription "A Promotone N.V. RECORD" on the label. Really happy with it. Sounds more detailled and separated than my French 70s copy.

I have the same TML pressing with matrix A3/B5.
I found it in Irland :)
Don’t know what it means to have these matrix… -
Edited 2 years agoI have UK pressing with COC 5900 A5/B5. Can't find info about this either. Perhaps, a final 1971 pressing that Discogs has not documented? I will say the volume has to be turned up quite a bit to get a decent loudness. The detail is fantastic with strong bass and razor sharp guitars, but the record is cut at a low volume.

According to Michael Fremer, the TML in the deadwax indicates it's by Doug Sax and one of the best masterings. Apparently the German was the same mastering.

Anybody have any info on a COC 59100 UK press with A5/B5 matrix??
(inner sleeve says 'Made in Great Britain' and insert says 'Sleeve printed and made in England by Gothic Print Finishers Ltd' )
I do not see any record of an A5/B5 matrix on Discogs anywhere.. -
Further to my previous posting apparently the first pressings DO NOT include Promotone. This is because the UK release was in April 71 and Promotone wasn't created until September 71. However there are also A4/B4 and A3/B4 pressings without Promotone. Note that this information is unverified by myself and was provided by a third party via the sale of an early pressing of this LP on another site.

Is the Promotone N.V. Record wording really indicative of the earliest pressing? I recently sold one WITH this wording which had A4/B4 matrix suffixes and a large zip cover. I have one in front of me now which has NO Promotone wording yet has earliest A3/B3 matrix suffixes and all the other early issue pointers. The size of the zip is a moot point however, as sleeves can be swapped around.
