Was a hard listen when I first got this when first released but has turned out to be one of the Orbs classic albums and defiantly within the top 5. Probably within top 3 for me, as long as I am in the right mood. Classic ambient but pretty deep, rather than upliftin.

Awesome presentation, but I have to say -- and I'm shocked, since this is an Orb release -- that this is the first time a release has ever sounded better on CD than on vinyl. I've been waiting 20 years to get the vinyl, finally got it, put it on, and there's no bass.

The inner sleeves are printed on a nice quality, heavy weight, textured paper stock and really adds to the "old world, map pack" aesthetic. Nice artful approach to this packaging & a real treat to hold in hands!

Edited 18 years agoThis is one of the best releases from The Orb, spanning across 2 wonderful LPs stacked inside a see through jacked - this "map pack" is just the icing on the cake!
They really pushed their own sound with this record, long lush tracks that hold your imagination. Lots of samples thrown in as usual. I dont know if I would reccomend this as a starter for someone who is new to The Orb, but more for the seasoned listener of ambient or "chilled" music. Once into the mind set you will probably be likst most who enjoy The Orb and hear this wonderful album, it is one of my all time favourite ambient type albums. Abstract drums and sounds layered overtop sounds that seem to come alive. A nice bit of variation leads this release away from mediocrity. Enjoy!
