How do you can tell this version apart from the repress?

You know when people say, "Hey, it feels like the band's playing in my room"?
Well, this time, it's actually true.

Sounds great, and these mixes are definitely worth owning. I have the original on cd, so it’s nice to have this one on vinyl. This 2013 mix is more rowdy, like Nirvana should be.

guys this was really good dynamics and space everything you want and it's for a few bucks grab it when you see it somewhere while it still lasts...I highly recommend it...

I just did a back-to-back comparison with the original mix. I can echo some of the comments made by other reviewers. Overall it sounds great, it's got more punch, the instruments are clear and well separated and the pressing has a low noise floor. But for a couple of the songs, I definitely prefer the original mixes. The removal of the cellos during the choruses of Dumb really lessens the emotional impact for me. Also, I found the increased presence of the 2nd guitar on All Apologies to be very distracting.

Pretty good sounding. Probably the best I’ve ever heard this album from a sonics perspective. I love the mix, too. Pressing is clean and flat. I have the repress w/o the fbi shield/warning label on back.

Wow! This vinyl is incredibly quiet. I nearly forgot I was playing a vinyl record when I put it on. The sound is remarkably loud and dynamic. A solid 10/10, recommended! I previously had a reissue of this album, not the 2013 mix. The sound quality was lacking, and the packaging was subpar. This is a refreshing change.

This mix is going to take a little bit to get used to (I only have the original mix on CD) but it sure does rock! I agree with some of the comments about Heart-Shaped Box having some volume leveling going on from the verse to the chorus is a bit weird at first but still is nice. On the track Milk it, it felt like the band were in the corner of the room. Super punchy

I'm not as familiar with the original mix, but I do have a GenX partner who was in a Nirvana cover band in the 90s.
The first time I played this record, I can only describe his reaction as startled and visibly confused.
                    Some of his remarks:
"Hey, this is a different mix!"
                    "Did they add another guitar?!"
"It's done in the modern way. It's too smooth. Kurt wouldn't have wanted it like that."
"It's ok I'm glad we got it."

To my ears it sounds like vinyl should.
My only complaint is that in Heart-Shaped Box, it feels like the volume leveling is off.
The vocals will go from a whisper during verses, to a full on assault with the chorus.
But maybe that's the way it was intended.

I wish the Discogs community would vote to separate the pressings of this because it came out as “20th Anniversary Edition. Black Friday 2013” and the recent pressings ARE NOT THAT!
