Is anyone aware of the postion of “Kurt Cobain” printed on the lower centre of the label varies from one copy to another?
I saw some copies online with the centric ring cutting through “K” whereas the picture here has the “K” just beneath the ring. -

The 20th anniversary remaster sounds great, and the same goes for the 2013 remix done by Steve Albini. However, this 1993 "Made in Holland" pressing takes the cake. I have yet to hear a better all-analogue pressing of In Utero in its original format (the album with the 1993 Scott Litt remixes of Heart-shaped Box and All Apologies). I understand the “Back to Black” record release of the non-remixed "Albini original" received outstanding reviews as well. That copy remains in print, and sells for much less money than this pressing. To my ears however, Albini’s cut with Kurt’s rougher, distorted guitar solo on HSB doesn’t do it for me. If you can find a clean copy of this pressing, take it home and enjoy it! The sound really lifts off the record and into the air for total NIRVANA!

Edited 3 years agoThis is the First and also the Ultimate pressing of this album.
The Remastered reissue sounds more bass-powerful and punchy compared to this one, but it really lacks the typical almost scratching Mids and Highs of the original Mix (this one) and the clearer instruments separation, which in My Opinion are the magic of this album because they put You in the same room right beside Nirvana's Amps and Drum Kit.
If You have the chance You could get an approximate idea of the vinyl comparison even A/B-ing respectively the original and the remastered cd versions.
Obviously on vinyl it would sound a whole lot more tridimensional than on cd, but it could proportionally be accurate anyway.
