Conspiracy hat on! Jay Burnet mixes albums for Hooj, Hooj is owned by Red Jerry, Red Jerry is credited as mixing this CD, Telstar credits Jay as the engineer in the inlay notes, yet only credits Jerry as 'compiled by'.
Jay mixes The Very Best Euphoric Chillout Breakdown, and is credited to him in the inlay - features veeery similar styled transitions.....*takes conspiracy hat off*

Huge soft spot for this chillout CD. At the end of an evening at a beach BBQ this would be slapped on so have so many brilliant memories attached to it. Absolutely perfect to listen to with a fire crackling away with the waves lapping at the shore in the middle of the night waiting for the sun to come up. There have been loads of chillout albums before but I don't think they really took off properly until this one set the bar. Further to that I don't really think there had been many mainstream trance tracks turned into ambient songs so mix that with the height of trance 99/2000 and you have a magical combination.

CD1 is a solid chillout mix, smooth, great track selection, nothing jarring, quite mellow, but perhaps a little cold in parts - only real let down is Moby - Why Does my heart feel so bad tagged on to the end. it should have ended with saltwater. Other than that this CD is pure perfection, an amazing intro for anyone wanting to try out some ambient.

CD2 unfortunately flip flops a little.
It starts off really well and for a while feels as good as CD1 - but then the incessant hissing of Groovin' With You comes in with its weird creepy high pitched vocal sample, which is a bit jarring, luckily this doesn't last long and it glides into Seven Cities - could really have done without that small bridge of Gentle People there. Second Hand is left to play out for almost 8 minutes, which is fine it's not a bad track, but they could probably have cut it before the beat kicks in and popped another track on instead. But it goes into The Wheel, which is a very boring, repetitive piece of music, again like Gentle People it could have been left off for the better. It flips back into Chicane - Early...beautiful. Annd then flops into Primal Scream - Come Together, which isn't bad but is just a bit noisey and abrasive, eventually repetitive and annoying 'the name of the game is power' over and over with an annoying sound. Ain't chilled. Straight into the brilliance that is Salt Tank Eugina. Perfect..only to be yanked out of it by a creepy baby crying weirdness that is Moby - Go, downhill again with the boring remix of Dream Universe. Saved only by Synaesthesia and This love; yeah CD2 could have been better, though where it is good it far outshines the bad tracks.

Objectively speaking, with my best attempt to remove the nostalgia I have for this album from the equation I thiiiiiink that Solar Stones' Chilled Out Euphoria is the better album, but none-the-less...this one.
Five Stars. Thank you Red Jerry and Jay!

When I first heard these tunes back in the 90s and later in these 'Chilled' mixes, I was transported to a place of bliss from which, even to this day, I've never been able to return. These were beautiful to me in a way that transcends description.

I don't know how newcomers to this music would receive it but it's easy to forget in this day and age, when these tunes have moved into 'classic' status and electronic music as a whole is moving toward becoming Muzak, just how new and special these tunes and mixes were when they were new to those of us who lived through those times.

Big fan of this and also the other releases in the chilled series of euphoria. Essential listening when I’m done with the world for a few hours. I’d say personally that the Solar Stone mixes in red casing 2 x cds is my favourite of them all, as it is just put together so thoughtfully and beautifully. A true journey of ambience. So - I am certainly a lover of each chilled release without doubt and this one is also way up there.

While I don't want to appear fan-boyish in my overview of this compilation, I also don't want to understate its importance.
Put it this way - While not perfect, this compilation is your entry point into the Chilled Euphoria genre. It covers the absolute pillars such as michael woods work on energy 52 and under the Accadia guise, as well as Eugina, Seven cities, Synaesthesia and all the reworkings that you need to hear to realise just what a wealth is on offer in this remarkably under-publicised genre. There are some tracks that aren't themselves too special - but considering what this series, or even just this volume has accomplished these can be overlooked as the polymer cement that holds the structure together.

I have to it at this point that despite the high esteem i hold this compilation in for what its done for giving exposure to quality chillout trance we don't always see eye to eye. I'll wait as a few veteran chillout/balearic diggers fall off their swivel chairs in confused rage but i've always found smokebelch II to be a bit tedious, and the man called adam remix that follows bears so little resemblence to the lustral original that it should barely be allowed to be called a remix... that too i find more tedious than enjoyable.

The second CD would be near perfection were it not for the near criminal inclusion of Primal Scream 'Come together'. I'm really not looking to start fights with fans of the scream but this track totally ruins the second disk, a horribly thought out talky, echoey, gospel-influenced mess, the words alone are enough to insult the ears, let alone that its been dropped in amongst otherwise beautiful works rather like putting a coil of barbed wire into a wedding cake mixture. The people responsible should be fired...out of a howitzer...aimed squarely at a substantial brick wall.

However so long as your cd player is close enough for you to tap the skip track button then you wont find any other objections to the second cd
This is your place to start...then keep going and don't stop looking, because even though next to no-one is looking for it there is a genre out there of some of the most emotional and future proof music you will find anywhere. You wont always have it handed to you, you will have to hunt, but believe me: it will be well worth it.

Here's a place to begin your own search - once you've gone through the three compilations in this series - look up Skyform - Infinite (M.T. Chillout Mix). I hope you enjoy your journey thereafter.
And if you want more help I'd be glad to give you a few more pointers

God this is beautiful, and it's moved me to tears many times. The choice of tracks and, just as importantly, the *mixing* is astonishing. If you're a fan of L.S.G.'s ambient works (especially the album Into Deep, of course) this is a must have, trust me.
