Edited one month agoThis album is definitely a slow burn, but quite interesting at times, and surely unpredictable. I think it needs about 10 listens to sink in, like most good prog that has stood the test of time. Pretty amazing how silent the vinyl is on the quiet parts. Sonics can’t be beat — I often forgot I was listening to a vinyl LP.

Ok soundwise the album sounds really good as any Steven Wilson album does. Fairly quiet toothpaste colored vinyl in a gatefold package. Probably need to hear it in surround to fully appreciate it. That's all the praise I can give the Overview. Overall it's just too slow of an album to really enjoy almost feeling EP like. The great guitar work is missing here and I'm sorry but Rotem's spoken words do nothing to enhance this recording just like on the song Harmony Codex from the previous album which is the only bad song on that outstanding lp. As much as I like Wilson you can't love everything he's done and this one is for now for me at least in last place on all of his 8 solo efforts. Even behind the Future Bites and Insurgentes. I'm ing on the show this year too because 40 minutes of it will be dedicated to playing the new album.

One thing I’ve noticed: I’m from the USA and my copy is a translucent minty aqua blue. Some photos I’ve seen have it look closer to the color of the orb on the cover and it’s opaque. Wonder if there’s a slight pressing difference?

Wow Steven and co. blew this pressing out of the PARK. This is how vinyl should be done, half speed mastered, pressed in , A PROPER POLY-LINED innersleeve!! The record looks and plays great. Great dynamics and little surface noise, especially with how many quiet portions there are. I was a bit worried with side A being 23 minutes long but it sounds great! Oh and the music is fantastic too!

This edition on mint green vinyl is stunning! And a great fkn album at that, thanks Steven!
Also, all the correct choices when it comes to the pressing itself....Lacquer Cut at Abbey Road Studios by the amazing Miles Showell, & thankfully pressed by Optimal Media in (and not the dreadful GZ Media!) And yeah the record plays & sounds phenomenal, i couldn't be more pleased about it.
Sure hope this is the way forward for EVERYTHING released on vinyl by SW & Porcupine Tree.
