Edited one year agoVinyl front-end used for this review:
Rega P3:RB880 tonearm,Denon DL160
Phono Stage:Whest Audio TWO.2 phono stage.
This is stated amongst one of S.W`s best solo albums and I`d have to STRONGLY Agree with this sentiment.
The flow of the album makes it sound like one whole performance that starts from a slow light vocal harmonies(1st track)and builds to some "Great" guitar & percussion crescendos accompanied by lovely lead & backing vocals along the way,all this results in a VERY Dynamic record and you`ll need your vinyl front-end set-up "precisely" to really appreciate the Dynamics here!
You`ll be hard pressed not to find at least a few tracks on here that you won`t to hear again and again, just sublime progressive rock from start to finish.
My two discs are glass flat,(fairly)noise free and well centered on the platter spindle, this is an EXCELLENT purchase especially for the price I paid a few years ago.
Highly Recommended for ALL Steven Wilson fans new and old five stars, thank you for reading*****

Excellent pressing overall. My copy is super quiet and flat with nicely pressed vinyl. The soundstage is spacious with room shaking lows and highs that aren’t harsh or sibilant. This one’s a pleasure to listen to.

Great album, horrendous pressing from Kscope. I think folks would be better off getting the 2023 reissue on Transmission and take your chances there. The sound is full and dynamic, in between the litany of pops and ticks.

Edited one year agoThe sound quality is really good. Clear, and great separated sound. I can turn up the volume very high and it still sounds clean and powerful. Music like this that have many quiet parts needs to be free from defects on the pressing and this one was good. Recommended, one of the best sounding records u have heard and the album is a masterpiece

Edited one year ago95% of these listed for sale are the 2023 Transmission label reissue!! Please, it's very easy, this is on the Kscope label issue, the 2023 pressing is on Transmission label, do your homework kids....

Love SW's music, and although this is not my favorite record of his, this is a joy to listen to on a vinyl. The guitar solo on 'Deform to Form a Star' is already worth every penny I paid for this! The acoustic guitar work on Side D is also remarkable.
