syhzmn Despite their notorious reputation, the Satanic allegations that followed the band throughout their career were largely misplaced. As Geezer Butler himself clarified: "A lot of the stuff was misinterpreted, I think, just because of the name of the band, Black Sabbath." Contrary to popular belief, songs like "After Forever" contain what Butler described as "the most Christian thing you could ever listen to," exploring themes of lost faith rather than devil worship. Even their namesake track "Black Sabbath" served as a cautionary tale against the burgeoning black magic movement sweeping England in the late '60s. Just thought you might want to know the truth.

Always great to see people stating as the “best sounding copy” while they haven’t listened any other vinyl copy. Too clean and detailed for me, I prefer the Green WB , Uk or German Vertigo , also that castle re issue with the 7” from 96 (I think)

not a huge Sabbath fan, but this is a great album, and I think it might be the best sounding record I’ve ever heard. Dead quiet vinyl, and amazing depth, seperation and dynamics. It’s truly great. Has become one of my test records for new audio gear.

Love all of these rhino hifis. Jackets are so nice. Some of the pressing can have a little noise. This one did not. Best version of this album that I have heard. Lots of detail in the highs and mids. Must own for sabbath fan

Agreed. Over HiFi-ed cleaned up sound. Just because it’s detailed and clean doesn’t make it a great release. It lacks the darkness and energy that this album needs

I don't think I'm adding anything new to the conversation, but this really does sound great. I've not heard a Vertigo pressing, but I'm happy with this. HUGE improvement on my old 70's WB pressing, which wasn't a slouch (I don't have the matrix info as i got rid of it as soon as I listened to this). This one is in your face and very detailed. No sibikance, dead quiet vinyl, and great packaging. Rhino is really becoming my favorite brand. They consistently do a great job with these reissues, whether it's a Rhino High Fidelity or other standard releases.

Edited 6 months agoI was so excited to snag this off the Rocktober special, but dang was I disappointed. The bass is non existent and everything sounds compressed way up high. It was so bad that I stopped the album and put on the Apple Lossless streaming version just to compare. I usually love the sound of vinyl over digital streaming, but this mastering was so bad it sounded more digital than the streaming digital version. Huge swing and a miss on this one. Makes me question getting any more of the Rhino HiFi series. Odd because the Grateful Dead American Beauty was SO GOOD. This was SO BAD. Black Sabbath is all about being deep dark and evil sounding. This was anything but that. All hype and no payoff on this one.
