This pressing is fantastic. My copy is VG+ but the quality shines through. I could use "Ashes The Rain and I" as a show off the system song. The acoustic guitar is especially stellar.

        Notes on Columbia Pitman pressings

When the "Bolero" segment was hastily removed from "The Bomber" medley (August 1970), there was some initial confusion at the pressing plants contracted by ABC Records. In some cases labels changed, but the metal parts did not. Or vice-versa. As a consequence, mislabeled transitional pressings exist.

Records coming out of the Columbia Pitman (NJ) plant were no exception. In fact, some Pitman pressings of "James Gang Rides Again" are unique in that they are the only known pressings of the album (on any variation of the ABC black label) where even though "B. Bolero" is no longer listed on the Side A label, the "Bolero" segment still plays on the record. If you are actually examining the vinyl, it is easy to see which Pitman record you are holding. On a pressing WITHOUT "Bolero", track 3 "Woman" and track 4 "The Bomber" will appear nearly the same in banded width. On a pressing WITH "Bolero", "The Bomber" will be distinctly wider than "Woman". If you are shopping online (that is, sight unseen) for a copy WITH "Bolero" (or for that matter, hoping to avoid one), the affected Pitman pressings will bear these matrix numbers in the runouts:

ABC black label WITH the New York address perimeter print:

Side A (will be one of the following)*:
        ABCX 711A-1B
        ABCX 711A-1B P

Side B (will be one of the following)*:
        ABCX 711B-1A
        ABCX 711B-1B
        ABCX 711B-1B C 1

ABC black label WITHOUT the New York address perimeter print:

Side A (will be one of the following)*:
        ABCX 711A-1A
        ABCX-711A-1B

        Side B*:
        ABCX 711B-1B

Note that in every instance above, the runout prefix contains the letter 'X'.

*Other transitional Pitman pressings may exist. Please me through the Discogs console if you discover one!
