Going through my pop albums there is no doubt Different Class ranks with the very best. Pulp set out to make the best pop album ever and they couldn't have succeeded any better.

On top DC contains what is often referred to as the britpop antheme, namely, Common People. For obvious reasons. The song is catchy, but it's the lyrics and the way Jarvis Cocker delivers them that makes the song stand out. In all fairness, though, it's not fair to other britpop acts that their contribution should not be considered just as essential. Blur's Parklife comes to mind. Or some Supergrass. And, alright, some Oasis too.

Anyway, lovers of lasting pop music with edge, wit, and presence NEED this in their collection. It's an essential. Nothing less.
