Edited one year agoATTENTION - Praise the Noid! Popmarket just confirmed a black vinyl edition of Show is scheduled for release on 8 September - - - and their “pre-order” price-tag is LESS THAN the median price of the pic disc sold here.
At the height of the buying panic of the hideous RSD picture disc I wondered aloud why a black vinyl version wouldn’t be an eventual option - perhaps, yes, maybe? To my dismay, I was dismissed. Yeah, well, 2,400 of y’all refused to play the patience game and rushed to throw down $$ on yet another of Robert’s fetishized picture discs. How u feel now? -
Do you think the factory inner sleeves should be replaced with Mo-fi's? I can't tell if they're PVC or not. If so they would degrade over time and damage the discs.
-
Excellent sound for being a picture disc, as stated many times before. Unfortunately as I'm listening now, there are multiple skips in the beginning of side B. I hope this isn't too much of a trend with all the other ones, I haven't opened them to check. As always with picture discs there's a bit extra surface hiss but it doesn't really matter for a live one given that there's a continous flow and no gaps between songs. Slight warp on disc one but doesn't affect play. Definately priced on the high side, I was a bit reluctant getting it but given that I knew the mastering job was gonna be great and getting it on vinyl it felt like a fairly decent purchase. Too bad these hard to find vinyls are issued on picture disc - let's hope for a regular release as well.
-
Picture discs have no right to sound this good. I was hesitant to get it at the $50 price point but it's well worth it
-
Absolutely amazing record. You need to get this, it won’t disappoint. It’s a gatefold design with picture disc shapes. (Unique packaging I’ve never een on a record) and it has all the hits, live preformed. All you need is a beer, close your eyes and you are at that concert! 5/5

El sonido es bueno, pero tiene saltos en las caras B, C y D. Creo que una edición en color o en 180 grms hubiese sido más satisfactoria.

Edited 2 years agoSounds pretty good to my ears, you have to raise the volume a bit...
Records very slightly warped but plays perfectly.
I repeat what I wrote in a previous comment, the die-cut round holes cover is criminal! After all these years this legendary live album deserved a better artwork... -
Mine skips about one minute into the beginning of side B. A friend of mine has a copy that skips at the same spot. He bought it on the west coast while I bought mine on the east coast. looks like there is a bad batch of those records. disappointing.
-
Two skips at the very beginning of Side D for me. Similar to the skips found on the Wild Mood Swings picture disc. The sound quality is very good for a picture disc. I don't regret the purchase, but where is the QC with these picture disc editions. Like many reviewers, I agree that black vinyl editions would be much more satisfactory - color variants even. (Just imagine a red/blue splatter of Wish or a red/white/black splatter Bloodflowers!) I'm not sure if the band is directly to blame, but then again - Robert Smith oversees 90% of the products which bear the Cure name. Maybe RS has a thing for picture discs?

Edited 2 years agoCurious as to why there’s no discussion of a possible black-vinyl edition of Show in the near future. A picture disc of Wish was issued on Black Friday 2022 in North America, then, hallelujah, the black-vinyl edition w the same Miles Showell Half-Speed mastering came along in January (for the Rhino Start Your Ear Off Right series). Why not the same scenario w Show?
