Remixed and remastered from the original multi-track masters…well they must have been pretty poor masters because this pressing features very average audio quality in my view. And not just the audio quality, the outer packaging is cheap and flimsy, which is very disappointing given the hefty price tag ($110 AUD). Sound is thin and compressed, lacking warmth and balanced mid and low end. Vocals are inconsistent in their clarity. I appreciate you can’t polish a 💩 but perhaps this recording should never been translated to vinyl format as it doesn’t really do much for the legacy of this great artist. Ironically, brought to you by a label called “Legacy” and Prince’s own estate. Personally, wish I’d have spent my money on 2 or 3 of his studio albums instead. -

Anyone who says this sounds good, must be playing it on a Crosley suitcase record player, lol. This sounds like stir fried sh$t! And no one can say it’s because of it being an old recording. It’s 1985! I have live albums from the 60’s-70’s that blow this out of the water. Horrible distortion and sibilance on the entire set. I guess this is good for hardcore collectors. But definitely not for a Prince and the Revolution concert experience in your room. Wish I didn’t waste my money on this. Glad I got it on sale. I’ve played it Once since I bought it Months ago. It will NOT be getting another spin -
It’s such a powerful recording of what must have been one of the most mind blowing live performances, the only downside is that I was living on the wrong side of the world to have been able to witness this live in 1985, the album makes up for it 🙂

Vastly inferior packaging compared to the triple vinyl limited edition United States box set. Pitiful. Only get this on sale cuz $30 is too much

Music is fantastic. All discs have lots treble distortion, an issue I don’t have on my other records. Should have bought the CD version. -
Fantastic sounding! Hearing that version of "Purple Rain" is fucking transcendent. You get 3 discs for $50 & an entire Prince, in his prime, concert. It's fantastic. The booklet is nice. The packaging is okay because you aren't buying it for the box it comes in, you're buying it for the experience of listening to a young Prince play an iconic version of "Purple Rain". -
The albums simply sound fantastic and are completely flat. The audio has been remastered by Bernie Grundman.
Padded inner sleeves, only the box in which the albums are could have been a lot better. If you want to buy it, you will certainly not go wrong! -
Side B on my copy is filled with surface noise. It sounds absolutely terrible in places with static sounds overpowering the music. Poor pressing, I guess. The other 5 sides all sound great. I think I'll exchange it and see if I just got a bad copy. Oh, and all 3 records are very slightly warped, but that seems to be pretty common. It's rare that a new record is perfectly flat these days.
