Did anyone notice, that this reissue has mentioned the copyright of "craft recordngs" on its back jacket? So is it still an analogue production or is it a craft recording under the brand of AP? Has anyone information about that?
-
No thumps in my version. The first time I played it, it was immediately post the Kenny Dorham quiet Kenny vinyl by analogue productions. The dynamics clarity and base in this vinyl was significant better than the Kenny Dorham version. Took me a bit of time but now I keep going back to this album. Splendid copy!

Great sound quality but as others have noted, there is an audible thump and for me it’s for almost all of side 1.

Edited 2 years agoMaybe I hear the same like toobuzz. On my copy, it's only during higher and louder (disonant, if that makes sense) piano tones, there I can hear some fuzzy distortions. A few times on Side A. (Good example, the piano solo on A3) Could it be it's on the tape, because recorded hot? I have no further insight though. Anyone else?
EDIT: With a higher tracking force (+0,3g) the little distortions on the piano are gone. -
The sound and dynamics are fantastic, but I’m getting some thumps during “Violets for Your Furs”. Is this a pressing defect or on the master tape? The thumps do not correspond to a physical location of the disc which makes me think that this is on the master tape. Any ideas?

Extremely happy with the pressing quality and the remastered sound, esp. when playing this with my mono cartridge. Strangely, my 2021/2022 repress weighs the previous releases‘ typical 200g and not the „secretly“ slided in 180g. In the end, it does not matter at all in any aspect of the listening experience but the marketing „blabla“ as to vinyl weight still seems to plant and grow the „seeds“ in many people‘s heads.

I can't imagine it sounding any better. Tremendous dynamics, no noise, perfect details. Very pleased.

***Posting this note for those interested.
These 2021 & 2022 180gram represses all sound lovely and are likely on par if not the same as the 2012-2017 ones but it's important to note that the THICKNESS of the cardboard has DECREASED noticeably. One can easily bend and accidentally crease these ones whereas the originals were made from thicker cardboard and seemingly indestructible. I think it's an important factor to when choosing to buy these newer round of represses as you are technically getting less for the same asking price. It's also not something that the company has made clear or has any plans to do so as the costs of business (esp cardboard) has risen over past few years. In some ways you can't blame them for trying to offer a quality product when these costs have continued to rise.
Hope this helps those thinking of buying any 180gram pressings from this company.
*This cover issue may also affect 200gram presses but I've not noticed that from the few I've seen thus far.
