Out of all the Sgt Pepper versions I have in my collection. - this is the best. Just purchased one at a record fair today and put it on - totally new listening experience! The separation of the instruments, the vocals …. Sounds going into one ear and to another … just wow ! Good prices out there if you can get a copy ….

Edited 2 months agoJust love the way John Lennon comes out the right channel on mr Kite which makes him sound just like the ring master standing to one side in the circus absolutely amazing
-
This is a beautiful pressing. The soundstage is big with vocals up front and great balance. Mr. Kite blew me away!

Edited 5 months agoI have the "Country Flag" pressings of this and The White Album. Both are very *clear*, but also very bright. You may want to turn up the low end on your stereo a little to make the most of them. (Also, fwiw, my Sgt. Pepper doesn't have the loop at the end of side 2.)

Sgt. Peppers mono has always been my go to, but this pressing makes me look at the stereo mix a lot differently. The clarity of every instrument and vocal is insane. The 2017 stereo remix can't even hold a candle to this pressing. It's so bland. Once you hear the stereo mix with this pressing, you realize how great they originally did with the stereo mix regardless of how little time they spent on it. I'm pretty sure this will be my go to from now on.

To wade into the inner groove debate (because the quality of the pressing is pretty well agreed upon), I have a variant that does not match the others, somewhere between 2 and 7 but not quite either…stamped 4S3 2 on side A, and 2S3 106 on side B. The chatter is present but only plays once (does not loop) on two separate systems, and isn’t actually an “inner groove” — it is located immediately after A Day in the Life, on the same track without traversing the deadwax. The “static” that usually plays beforehand as the stylus crosses the deadwax does still play, but since it’s at the end of the track instead of being the sound of the deadwax being crossed, it’s almost a simulation of that static, because the stylus is moving at normal speed. Odd, but as with the rest of the pressing…great channel separation on the chatter itself😋

this pressing sounds amazing it is dead quiet and the bass is punchy and dynamic and the instrument seperation is amazing

I thought I knew this album well until I listened to this version. A whole new listening experience. In—cre-di-ble mix, dead quiet, beautiful separation of instruments/ sounds. Like listening for the first time. An emotional experience. A+++

This pressing is dead quiet and sounds great, obviously this is in my personal opinion. I’m a little surprised that these are selling for so cheap? Get one while you can.
