I first bought the US press (BMG) black vinyl and all three LPs were full of noise, with constant clicks, ticks and distortion. I’m not sure which plant pressed that version but it was unlistenable. Did a wet clean, nothing changed.
Returned it and got this European (Parlophone) black vinyl version instead, pressed at Optimal. Day and night difference. Virtually silent, no ticks or pops. This may not be the best sounding Maiden album/mix, but this version is the best way to experience it.
This stark difference between US and European pressings is really annoying. -
Sounds dull and mushy. His Voice is low volume and seems far away. Worst at stratego.(Stylus: AT VM-95sh).
Compared it to the HiRes on Qobuz.
This 96khz version sounds much more dynamic and clear.
Very disappointing! -

First bought the CD, in my point of view the best album since Progressive switch (2000's) with trilogy: Brave new world, A matter of Life and death, Book of souls, With regards to sound, quality you can expect from digital recording.
Decided to purchase the 3xLP. Not an exceptionnal pressing, it is acceptable but lacking dynamic and brillance.
CD has a better sounding quality. -

Good sounding record. Massive 3x LP, cannot put this in a sleeve after replacing the LP sleeves inside. -
Edited 3 years agoI had a lot pf resin in the run-in of side b. Was able to remove it with some isopropanol and a glasses cleaning cloth. Good to go now, but what the hell do they do at quality control dept. at parlaphone or/and optimal media? -
Great sounding record. Very dynamic. The album itself is pretty good, especially for old days maiden fans. Long solos, some darn catchy riffs. Did not disappoint. -
Maiden does it yet again on this magnum-opus of prog-metal heavyosity. Gotta love the 3xLP format too, it's like getting three 12-inch EP's in one package. Sounds wicked-awesome as well, with great fidelity, a wide sound-stage & good thump to the gallop. If you, like me, bought Iron Maiden's debut back in 1980 'cause the cover was cool I can only say one thing: Up the irons!
