Edited 5 months agoPressing sounds very closed off and muddled and does not sound good. This is no shade to Olivia Rodrigo. Discogs is about reviewing sound quality, not the actual music. 4.5 is way over rated. I would rate the new Guts pressings as 4 stars. -
Thankfully my copy has fairly minimal surface noise, with just the occasional minor crackle or two here or there. Still a fairly unremarkable pressing though. -
Just picked up a new copy that's warped and plays with some surface noise unfortunately. Interesting to note mine didn't come with a Made in Canada sticker, it was printed on the shrink wrap. Side A plays fine because of the bowl-shaped warp, so I just won't play Side B apparently. -
Edited one year agoSeems I should have read some reviews first! My copy is quite noisy "out of the box". I used a vintage discwasher brush with some D4 fluid, then hit with a VinylStyle carbon brush and I'm still getting what sounds like static noise. Tried a ZeroStat with little or no improvement. Still need to run it through the Spin Clean and see if that improves it any. It's a really gorgeous blue, just wish it wasn't so noisy!
Edit: It was noisy enough to me I decided to see if I could get a replacement, Target allowed it and first impression this one seems a better. Still some noise in quieter parts of Traitor for instance but it's a noticeable difference. The spindle hole on the one I returned was very snug too, and this one isn't near as tight -

My copy sounds great maybe I just got lucky. The alternative artwork and overall packing is a serve, and makes it worth purchasing.

Edited 2 years agoWonderful cover and the color of vinyl but as others already said before the pressing itself isnt the best…it has some surface noise on quiet parts of songs disturbing the songs (such as traitor) but its a good collection piece ať least

Appreciate the alternate cover, but the pressing is almost muddy sounding.. prefer the Wal-Mart pressing over this one -
My first copy had an awful distortion throughout the last track so I had to get a replacement, which does sound better and has minimal playback issues overall in regards to sound. It does have quite a warp, particularly on Side B, but I suppose I'll end up keeping this one since it has minimal to no impact on playback.
