Just had a listen to this and it sounds (mostly) fine. Some quieter sections have a noticeable crackle which is a real shame and it certainly pales in comparison to the quality pressing of their first album. What I find more frustrating is the awful packaging from Matador and lack of protection while shipping. Mine copped a big ol’ whack. The print on the cover is dreadful in of quality. Centre hole on A/B is loose and C/D is tight. This has all the hallmarks of a rushed pressing to meet a deadline. It’s a shame since it’s a decent album.

Not quite as good as the first album but few things are. Very solid album and pressing. Vinyl bonus track on Side D might be my favorite song of theirs.

Edited 3 years agoThis press indeed sounds like shit. After cleaning still a lot of pops, and excessive surface noise. And as mentioned it's not marbled white but just solid white. Returning it and sticking to the black one. Did anyone actually get a marbled copy?

SIde D is pressed at 45 RPM, the other 3 sides are 33 1/3. My white copy sounds very good with no surface noise, pops, or anything. The first LP does have a DNAP bowl warp though. Really great album.

Great Album. Like amazing! Sounds fantastic but the quality control is horrendous. Package arrived severely warped and it looks like it was pressed off center. There's just too many distracting scratches and pops to be able to enjoy this album. Darkside shines when listening through good headphones so this extra bums me out. Hopefully I'm just a one off here and I can get a good replacement from Matador.

Significant surface noise which is frankly unacceptable for this record. The best parts of Darkside are the quiet, eery moments. Those are ruined on this pressing.
