I don't really get the negative comments, and I'm glad I finally decided to get the record. Sure, The Champ sounds compressed, but it's the same on the cd (which is why this track never was a standout for me, I always felt the mix did not fit Just Blaze's style). Overall good pressing, and the packaging is great.

Everyone whos complaining about the sound quality...Do u ever heard the OG press? Even the cd sounds swack cause its recorded like that....

One of my favorites from the mid 2000’s. The sound quality on this pressing doesn’t blow me away, but great presentation & packaging.
-
my initial thoughts is it sounds pretty good all things considered. what are y'all expecting from a wu album?
-
I would agree with the other comments. I love this album but the mix does not sound great on vinyl... definitely not as good as other VMP hip hop releases. No surface noise, pops or anything like that on my copy though.

Edited 4 years agoGod damn I love this album. It's the album that got me into hip-hop in high school, so when I found out VMP was going to press it I was stoked. It sounds pretty good, the bass is full and sounds nice, but overall the sound itself is nothing mind-blowing to my ears. There is still some pretty bad compression on The Champ and in other areas throughout the album, it's not all that dynamic, and my LP2 has some surface noise issues. The vinyl itself is pretty as fuck though and it's awesome to have this album on vinyl again. So while this isn't really an audiophile quality release by any means, it's definitely going to be a favorite in my collection.
