Edited 8 months agoOne of my favourite headphone albums. Clear and well produced. Gets better every time I play it.
-
Side A has problems. Lots of crackling. Mastering/mixing is great when the record itself doesn’t get in the way. Side B was much better.
-
Edited one year agoa really really good piece of art. both: music as artwork sleeve. getting better and better with the time.
Music Inspiration: Genesis/Gabriel is not far away. in a quite positive meaning.
Sometimes I even partly thinking: Talk Talk (the later ones).
Creative music. By every tune. which is different to the one before.
Ein Album, dem man einfach gerne zuhört. Grosse Kunst.
a masterpiece. not the press quality eventually.
BUT: let's talk more about the music.....

I’m not even really a Bon Iver fan, but I bought this for one song. The sound of this LP impressed me a great deal. Especially every damn song.
-
I’ve had this since it came out. I also spin clean all my records on arrival and this one has always played clean with a quiet background and zero pops. No issues with pressing quality. The mastering on this is probably the best of all of the Bon Iver vinyl releases, which I have. This one just has excellent instrument separation and a good soundstage. It sounds spacious and is well balanced with excellent bottom end.

Edited 3 years agoThis is a very nice pressing. The mastering is fantastic, very dynamic and nuanced. I'd give it an 8/10 on surface noise, 10 being absolutely silent.
There are so many people on discogs bashing pressings for noise or skipping when they have, what I largely suspect are low quality, and or poorly set up turntables coupled with low quality cartridges. It just bothers me when I have a quality vinyl and I see people shredding it as garbage. I can't imagine how the exact same matrix pressing could be such wildly different quality. Sorry for the rant -

The artwork in this is crazy its so cool/trippy. Being from Eau Claire I will forever love this mans music
-
noisy vinyl, lots of pops and clicks, and poor mastering (especially on the vocals). wish we could have gotten a better press for such a great album
-
This album is Bon Iver’s masterpiece. It’s amazing. This pressing does a fine job conveying the details as well n
